I'm not not I understand why this is being discussed. Rangers have 23m in cap space, and even more when they buy out DeAngelo. Their only bigger re-signings are Buch and Shesterkin. and having 6 top 9 wingers isn't a bad thing.

Cap space next season is bountiful, but in 22-23 we have a LOT of extensions due (Fox, Zibanjead, Kakko, Kravtsov) so throwing money around this offseason would be digging our own grave.

You're pretty bad at trolling. He is UFA when his contract expires next year
Oh, even more reason then where he gets that number.

Not trolling at all. NYR fans need to realize that Strom and Buch benefited of better players, and will get paid for it. It'll instantly be a bad contract as soon as botht ehse guys get those 7M$+ figure number elsewhere (or in Buch case, possibly with th NYR actually), but it doesn't matter. ppag / near ppg players get 7M$+ figure, covid or not.

Strome has not been a part of the Rangers long term plans for some time now. Him asking for/deserving 7M on an extension is just further reason for that. I hope he gets paid, he deserves a good contract, it just wont be here.

Gorton literally couldn't give Strome away last season.

WHo suggested throwing money around? Just saying there is no reason to move someone now.

No way Strome gets 7+ lmao. Even then, that's next summer's concern, zero reason to think about that before the deadline.
Strome is going to find himself standing on the corner of who needs him and who can afford him. The question is if any of those teams give him a better opportunity than NY. The way I look at it, Ottawa, Detroit, Buffalo and can both use him and afford the 7m number. Montreal and Minnesota could probably use him but not at 7m. The first three don't give him a better chance to win and the other two don't give him better money. That leaves NY who is already a known quantity. If he comes in at between 5 and 6 per for 4 or 5 years in NY he should take it IMO.

Is there a reason you come into every NYR thread and post about the money Strome, Fox, and Buchnevich are going to get?

Cause NYR fans are delusional and think every player will take a 3M$ discount to play for them...

They won't.

You ever hear about that artemi panarin guy?
11.6M$ / year isn't a 3M$ discount when the best player in the world makes 12M$ a year bud... It's retail value. He took what, maybe 500K less than what the CBJ offered him...

Even then, COlumbus could have offered him the max and he probably would have declined to get out of there.

That's not really a question of $ tho, so much as a question of getting out of CBS... He could've signed in FLA for the same amount too...

Fact is, he didn't sign a discount in NYR. The NYR were one of the only team being able to afford his 11.6M$ cap hit at the time. Taking a discount is more or less what a guy like Tavares did at the time, gettign 10+M$ a year offers, and signing for 1/2m$ less elsewhere.

Panarin doesn't look like a discount right now either. McDavid gets 12M$ a year, @ 11.6, Panarin is somewhere along the "retail value"

islanders offered around 13m
around 12.5M$. SO he took a 900K "discount" to play for the NYRangers... While his value in terms of play is still around the value of a 10.5 / 11M$ a year player. How is that a discount exactly?

What? This is such a stupid narrative that only someone who didn’t watch the team would believe. Buchnevich carried around an underperforming Kreider and Zibanejad this season. And Strome has always produced without Panarin.

Three pages and we haven't had a single honest post about a Buchnevich return.

Just "let's trade Kreider instead" (HE HAS A NO MOVEMENT CLAUSE!!!), a crazy Pastrnak thing that should have been ignored, "Rangers fans are bad," and "no ur bad."
