When we were winning, it was two periods of total, absolute suck mitigated by 1 period of great play resulting in a comeback. Now, it is three periods of suck with maybe a shift or two in the third resulting in a goal.

Shades of Martin - and I liked (more like appreciated really) Martin

The problem is, if you want Sekac to score goals, it will be hard to do with Eller who hogs the puck and always makes the same "skate around the net and make a low percentage pass" in the offensive zone. Eller seems to have lost all creativity.

I think it's a matter of confidence and going back to the basics for him. I liked what I saw yesterday, hopefully they keep it up.

Okay. I have to say it:

Big props to MT for not benching Sekac after the penalty.

It would have been a Therrienesque thing to do.

Interesting four game home stand coming up, starting Saturday with Minnesota. Then Winnipeg, Boston and Philly (then into Detroit the next day - another back-to-back).

Well at least we play Winnipeg

I really hope the habs find a solution... Because as someone mentioned just before, these last games have been really, really painful to watch... Offensive production isn't there and the defensive coverage is absolutely atrocious and causing so, so many 2 on 1... It's painful really.

If Bournival is going to be out I'd like to see this:

Patches - DD - Bork
Chucky - Plek - PAP
Sekac - Eller - Gally
Prust - Malhotra - Weiss

Patches - DD - Sekac
Chucky - Plek - PAP
Bourque - Eller - Gally
Prust - Malhotra - Weiss

People need turn their attention from DD and look at Patches a bit more. He's been absolutely terrible this season.
Patches hasn't been bad. Just not great.

They should be split up and it should've happened a long time ago.
Gallagher did EVERYTHING but score tonight.
I liked his game last night. He's been invisible for a while now but he showed up.
Wow, Antichambre guys trying to pump DD's tire.....man those guys are pathetic...again hiding him behind Pacioretty's work.
RDS is a joke.
Cant wait to see the reaction of RDS once DD leaves the team.
Not happening as long as MT's the coach.
Probably Beaulieu's best game of the year, seemed a lot more involved offensively playing on the right side. I like Weaver but I'd way rather have both Beaulieu and Tinordi in the lineup over him.
Agreed on all counts.
Please don't be satisfied with 2 points. The score just indicates the result of 1 game while the way they play (win or lose) is the real indicator of our strength (or weakness).

In my opinion, we fail again...in this game.
It was a pretty even game. If it wasn't the Sabres nobody would be upset. Snoozefest that results in a win? I'll take it.

But we still can't score and that's concerning.

Sad that we have to praise this coach for not benching younger players when they take penalties.

Top 6 should be

Patches-Pleks-Sekac
Chucky - Lars - Gally

Moen-Malhotra-Weise - specialists for faceoffs and penalty kills

Bournival-DD-Parenteau - specialists for shootouts and RDS interviews

Pretty horrible game... We couldn't move the puck out of our zone against the worst team in the league. The d zone coverage is a mess.

Still a sad game. This team will be in trouble if things continue on the current course. Weird being worried about a team when they are 9-4-1 but I am.

Sabres looked awful, and if our team was sharp wow, it could have been a rout the way the Sabres handled the puck and covered their zone last night. That team has some serious issues to figure out... I know you can be a last place team in the NHL just by virtue of weaker/younger player personnel, but I don't think their players are _that_ bad.

Which comes back around to saying, wow, our team played bad too.

Also: I like Parenteau better so far than I expected to.

Lars doesn't deserve anymore ice-time than Desharnais right now.

Nah, don't you remember on 24CH when Chucky made the team and Bergevin told him that Therrien is really good at developing youth. You know, because he had Crosby and Malkin and the it's clear the only reason they've succeeded is because of Michel!

Fun fact: even playing like garbage we are still 2nd in the league, 1st in the east. Few more games played but we are in a good position.

I am of the opinion that we are slumping and we'll eventual snap out of it so it's a good position to be in.

If we are not slumping, then oh ****...

We're obviously slumping, we're not going to average 1 goal a game for the rest of the year.

Why ****ing not? MaxPac and DD are not far off their regular grossly insufficient pace of production yet monopolising all the best offensive minutes. They could have maybe given us in the best case scenario a couple of additional goals. That's it. Our two bottom lines can't score.... Where are all those goals going to come from! We look real good because we're good in shootouts... As far I know the NHL has no plans in changing the playoff format to add shootouts. At real hockey, we get outscored like the worst teams in the league.

Yea I like Parenteau too. He has his deficiencies, but he's sneaky good in the offensive zone; goes to the right spots, has a deceiving shot, decent vision, and he has a little edge to his game.

I liked him more with Galchenyuk - Plekanec however. I'm not sold on Galch-Gallagher's chemistry anymore. Gally tends to hold the puck for too long and his playbook is very limited, as in you know exactly where he's going to put the puck. Galchenyuk and Parenteau were making great plays together all over the offensive zone. And Pap thrives when playing with a guy who can carry the play.
