Who are the 5 scratches ?

I don't think 5 guys are scratched tonight but it was probably a combo of guys who were injured/scratched/didn't play from the Edmonton game + who will be scratched tonight so maybe:

Barkov (back tonight, didn't play in Edmonton/Calgary)
O'Brien
Thornton
Pirri
Trocheck

I get that. But the start of last year was supposed to be Thomas/Clemmensen. Clem went down then it was Thomas/Markstrom. He still had not been sitting behind a proven goalie to "learn" from training camp on. I mean, even Thomas came late via tryout.

Part of a growing goalie is the process. And his process was very unpredictable here.

An example of this is Tuukka Rask. People (Claude Julien) talk about how much Tim Thomas helped out his development.

Tuukka Rask isn't the best example. He was an elite pro goalie two years prior to entering the NHL and projected to become a great goalie already in his draft year.

Thomas propably is a better example of a goalie taking his time before becoming a great one.

Though that is true, the process in which he became the starter definitely helps. No one is saying Markstrom is Rask here, I'm just saying he wasn't in the best situation. Even Hasek played behind Belfour and he probably learned a thing or two as well. Richter behind Vanbiesbrouck if I recall correctly (before they became 1A and 1AA

So Boston plays TBL tonight, who's on the second of a b2b, without Hedman and Johnson. Can't catch a break lol

This isnt necessarily a bad thing, just hope it isn't a 3 point game.
With a Panthers win, they are either 7 behind Tampa with 4 games in hand (plus 4 head to head) or 1 up on Boston with 3 games in hand (plus 4 head to head) depending on that game's outcome.

There is a 0% chance they catch Tampa. 0. Not negative, realistic.

Boston has been playing poorly this year.

Johnson and Hedman out, you never know. Boston was injured and is turning it up now.

Listening to Phil Esposito on XM, he says The Panthers have definitely caught his eye and his club needs to watch out.

He says the Panthers look more like a western conference team than an eastern team because of size, physicality, and speed

Our record vs East: 26 GP - 13 W - 7 L - 3 OTL - 4 SOL = .634

Our record vs West: 14 GP - 8 W - 4 L - 1 OTL - 1 SOL = .642

Slightly better vs the West nearly halfway through.

you are spot on. get your own 2, hope other games don't become 3 pointers. Someone must lose.
