He's learned a lot from Jagr and it's starting to show as he fills out physically and gains more experience. He plays a lot like Jagr does down low.

Also, he's deceptively fast. The guy has really long strides and honestly you don't see a lot of guys catching him in the NHL. He's def not the fastest skater in the league (obviously), but his strides are long and effortless at this point. Just watch the goal from last night, Tro is hustling back pretty hard and the gap between the two just spreads as Barkov gets down the ice. Tro is a pretty good skater too.

We really need to stop and appreciate him sometimes, we're watching one of the best players to ever done a Panthers jersey and he's just now reaching his prime.
I think that Android is at about 80% hockey capacity right now. Off-season immersion with Bennett and Gudas will add a new skill set.

I’m going to be honest, I was frustrated with him last year specially in the Islanders series. Basically because he wasn’t taking over like he’s now. I know there’s talk that he might’ve been injured all of last season or something. But whatever the case, this is the Barkov that is the envy of many teams and he’s our captain. I’ll also be honest, I still think Ekblad would in theory be better captain material. But if Barky is changing his aptitude to wear the C and is just a silent leader and it’s working to rally the troops, I’m all for it. I’m not one to think things must be done a certain way, if it gets the results, that’s all that matters.
He must have got a new firmware update, fixing some communication bugs, because he’s now more vocal, makes good comments, complains more to the refs AND gives the other team shit as well.

Lol hey I’m happy with him. Love what he’s bringing to the table and like I said, just keep at it it’s working so no complaint from me. But we’ll see in the playoffs. The entire team is going to have to want it, everyone has to bring the intensity and Barky has to lead by example.

He and Forsling deserve so much credit: we might win a division but I think winning a round is possible and it’s because of them.

I hope we find another LD for Ekblad to keep the Forsling-Weegar pairing up!

100% I wouldn't be adverse to giving nuti a try with eks and have Montour- gudas as bottom pair.

Nuti looks outstanding too.

I really think covid hit him like a truck

You guys should just bring Jagr in as a skills coach. When Jagr was here in Calgary, Bennett and Jankowski were spending time learning from him and listening to him, then in games were cycling the puck like Getzlaf and Perry in their prime. But after Jagr got injured a couple months in and then retired, the cycle game and fine details of puck protection slipped in both their games. Jankowski probably develops into a legit top 9 guy if Jagr were still around. Bennett's still good on the cycle, but he's got a lot of potential that remains unharnessed in terms of puck protection. Not to make a talent comparision but Bennett at his best (which you guys haven't seen yet, he's been falling down a lot) really controls the puck similar to Crosby down low.

Bring Jagr in as skills coach, obvioudly Huberdeau and Barkov don't need it since they spent so much time with him, but so many others will benefit.

Just rewatched the highlights. Again, amazing how many breakaways, semi-breakaways and oddman rushes we were not able to finish off - Bennett twice, Duke once, Barky-Gusev once... at least the Wennberg SH worked.

Still, we waste way too many. Öositive thing is that we seem to create them regularly - and we don't give up that many! We need to make more of them count in the POs where there's going to be even less opportunities.

"He’s just scratching the surface of how good he can be,’’ Jokinen told FHN earlier this season. “I am proud of him. He is a guy who was highly drafted, is the face of the team and hopefully the team continues to do well. …
“There isn’t one bad thing you can say about the guy. He is an unbelievable player … we’re talking about a Hall of Fame career. That’s the level he is playing at, that’s the level his career is headed.
“He is still a baby. Watch him in the next two or three years.”

The man needs to retire first and at this point between Jagr and Bennett I can't say for sure who retires first

Dude’s a literal monk: he keeps on picks up new things for the game. Laine was a great choice last seaso; maybe a physical guy like Foligno next offseason

His development is insane and upwards: got to think Jagr for it.
I'd like him to spend the offseason with Mario. At his peak I think he can be Mario lite. I dare not mention it on the main boards lol

Yeah, this is what I want. Splitting up Ekblad and Weegar I think is the way to go. Weegar has shown how good he can be on his natural side. Makes the potential for 3 good D pairings.

But why do they HAVE to dress him? If he’d be outstanding on pp, no problem. But it’s not the case. Not even close! 1/13 over the last two games and it’s been decreasing. 38% Jan, 21 feb, 21 mars, 11 april...even 21 % isn’t that fantastic to be honest if you’re having so called pp-specialists. Huby, Horny and Yandle. Plus Barkov and EK.

Just a few more games.

And then Zito signs Yandle for a two year extension with NMC because leadership 'n stuff.

Yandle is going to play all season including in the playoffs. They’ll shelter him as much as possible which will be much easier at home. Unfortunately not expecting him off PP1 either

I do appreciate him, he's without a doubt the best Panther ever in my mind. Bure was never this good of an all around player. And Lu had most of his best years in Vancouver. I think he should also get the Hart too but he won't. He is an absolutely massive and crucial part of this team, and we are 3rd in the league. Yeah McDavid is amazing, but the Oilers are mediocre.

If we can get rid of Yandle our D next year is really really good. To me, Weegar has reached another level playing on his natural side. I hope they keep him there and roll with this:

Forsling-Ekblad
Nutivaara-Weegar
Gudas-Montour

Montour has also been much better as we allow him to play his natural position RHD. Buffalo had him off hand.
