Just curious, what would you like to hear him say about this game specifically, that doesn't apply to the rest of our season? I think we all know that he would repeat the same old bs that every coach/gm says every time they get behind a mic, but why this game in particular.

P.S. That offense that you ***** about so much scored 3 goals and the defense played relatively well holding a great offensive team to 25 shots.

They just got more puck luck I guess. Right.

The improvements this team has made from all key guys this year is awesome... huby especially is turning into a high end offensive player... I think if barkov gets a healthy offseason which I don't think he did last year he's gonna go nuts next year...they r learning that u have to bring the desperation every night so they won't be in this same spot next year... what a great season

Quote from Jon Cooper after the game tonight:

"Of all the teams, and we've played them all, that's one of the hardest teams to play against, by far," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said.

This is awesome.

It's just too bad we kinda face-planted and had a bad stretch of hockey starting with the Winnipeg drubbing. I know we've all said it before but man, it feels like we're close to the next level. Our AHL team is doing well. Juniors & College players also.

Next year seems super promising.

welp. after letting this simmer. I'm giving this till the weekend.

If the Panthers don't enter the game on Sunday against the senators 3 points or lower down, then I'll concede we are done.

I'm still not giving up hope. I can't. I'm invested. I'm not ready to give up and not have Panthers Hockey till October. I can't.

we enter 3 points down on Sunday then its all on the line.

We gave the game away again, sorry don't find anything positive going into next year if we are still failing at basic hockey. Clearing/icing pucks out of the zone, stupid passing in our own zone (if you're too damn lazy to keep your skates moving, then at least keep the puck moving FORWARD instead of passing it backwards/all around our own zone, causing these brain-dead turnovers) and of course the all-time Panther favorite complaint, not putting enough one-time shots (with the exception of Pirri) on opposition goaltenders. You shoot, you score, what a concept! This team still wants to pass, pass, pass! :banghead:

Only positives for me tonight were Petrovic's game and the continuation of strong play from Barkov's line and Pirri.

Some players may have had a down night but this one loss hasn't "cost us the season". Winning 33 games out of 73 has cost us the season - generally mediocre play. Even if we never had that swoon after our 3 game winning streak, we would still be fighting for our playoff lives, in and around the 8th seed.

Without Luo this year, we may not even be this close to a playoff spot. His off game is surely balanced by all the excellent games he has had.

Squeeking into the playoffs at the last minute after being out of a wild card spot almost all year is just so rare. Unless you can do what Ottawa is doing, and it most certainly isn't normal.

Well, I hope the Panthers shake it off fast and start winning. I'm going to my first NHL game Saturday - got tickets to the Panthers @ Montreal for my birthday - so I want to see a visiting team win.

Not that I'll be able to cheer much, I think she bought me tickets in one of the home fan sections

Where did I say that? There were a few defensive lapses that the Bolts capitalized on and Luongo played like ****. Great job avoiding my question though

I think one of the other posters answered it already. It doesn't matter if you grill Tallon, he'll just continue to say the same stuff he always says about the team.

Such a shame we're not going to make it. We're finally starting to look like a genuinely good team. Even in our losses, we severely outplay the opponent (all elite teams, too)

But we're going to lose out due to a fluke of a run from the Sens. Disappointing.

Quote from Jon Cooper after the game tonight:

"Of all the teams, and we've played them all, that's one of the hardest teams to play against, by far," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said.

2009 was tougher, it's hard to be too mad when Florida is probably going to miss by 6-8 points.

I think what'll be hardest to take this year is knowing the team was actually playing like they should be this time of year...and are still losing.

That said, this team needs to be kept together for next year, maybe shed a couple spare parts not contributing much...pick up another higher-end offensive winger if there's one available in free agency, and make another depth defensive signing or two to cover injuries since the team's a bit shallow there. And that SHOULD be a sure-fire playoff team that could get past the first round. After that it'll be a matter of seasoning and finding a replacement for Jagr (hopefully amongst the prospect pool), who'll have to retire sometime sooner rather than later. He clearly adds to this team - Barkov and Huberdeau were slumping all season, and just adding him has made them both come alive offensively. Stop scratching Pirri (which I think Gallant has already realized was a mistake) and realize he's an goalscoring and powerplay specialist who shouldn't be relied on for defense, and upgrade the back lines with some of the youngsters to chip in some more goals. This team will compete. Oh, and something will need to be done with Bolland. Too much money for too little return.

From Harvey's post game news story:

Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon sat dejectedly with his head down on an exercise bicycle in the hallway outside a somber locker room.

The pedals weren't moving; the bicycle was stationary, similar to the Panthers' status in the standings after a crushing loss. This one hurt.

Blaming Luongo ? Okay, it wasn't his best game...

But when people put the blame on Roberto when our other golden-boy (Gudbranson) gives away basically three goals... I can't take it !

First goal should be all on Jimmy Hayes with that stupid pass... Then Erik's dive to try to make a play was a terrible, terrible idea.

Second goal, I saw him with his head-up and I knew instantly that he was going to try that pass up the middle... Obviously turn-over, then bang it's in the net.

The other goal, Callahan fooled Gudbranson with a head-fake going behind the net... Gudbranson went directly to the far post when Callahan was his man, and the guy was just able to skate back at the near post and fire a shot right from the slot... Bad bad coverage !

So I'm mad at Erik because I thought his brain-farts were kind of gone... Then he has a game like last night. I won't blame him because he has been so steady this year... But I'm pissed.

And seeing guys blaming Luongo when they can't recognize the play and the lack of d-coverage, it gets me pissed even more.

Thurdsay is make or break, but we don't hold our destiny in our hands.

I've been saying this for the past month... But Ottawa CAN'T keep winning like this ! It is impossible !

Reading your post remind me of some words from a couple of friends of mine, who happen to be Habs fan...

When they talk about Huberdeau, they always say he is soft and won't work hard on the boards... And generally, I can't stop laughing !

He wasn't good at it before because he lacked strenght, but you can't blame the kid's effort on the walls or around the net... And now that he is winning those battles more and more, we are seeing the true potential of this kid !

But lack of effort or lack of grit have never been part of Huby's game IMO.

Right, they all say the same thing, not just Tallon. So why do you want to hear from him after today's game I'd you know he is just going to say the same stuff?

i am not sure what i said has to do with habs fans.. the kid was bad last year and lost..maybe it was injuries.... this year he has blossomed and that was my point. Don't try and make it a negative when i am complimenting

Just wanted to say, you guys played a great game, and outplayed us. If it was not for guys like Callahan and Vasy being in Beast mode last night and carrying the team we lose this game easily. Panthers are certainly in the right direction and will certainly add to why there should be Hockey in Florida.

Anyway, you guys certainly have a bright future, #FloBros

This game was the epitome of Tallon's tenure here. Not that our effort lacked or that we gave up 50 goals, but we had the game in our hands after a comeback, and we still managed to lose. That and this was a big game if we wanted to make the playoffs.

Don't jump off yet folks.

There is a very real scenario where we end Sunday night one point behind Ottawa and ahead of Boston

Just sayin folks

I am enjoying the leg room here at the playoff cart though.

:D believing till Ottawa/Boston hit 95 points or we mathematically can't hit that Mark

You're a good man. I've been optimistic all year, but this was a bad game to lose.

But, here's to the final push!
