1. Secondary scoring.

Aside from Pacioretty, we don't have a true sniper. We need to address this going forward. Scoring goals when we need. We do have depth Plekanec, Eller, Sekec, Gallagher but they aren't snipers on the wing.

2. Defense

Needs a bit of work judging from Pitsburgh's game, too many turnovers, Crosby had a breakaway in OT etc., Subban is a #1 dman, Markov at this point of his career is a #4. Gonchar is no longer a fast player and is really slow. #5-6 defense at this point. Beaulieu is young but not a #2 or #3 yet. Emelin is not a puck moving dman and shouldn't play more minutes, he's a #5 and Gilbert is a #7 along with Weaver.
We lack #2 and #3 defensemen who can eat up some minutes. Keith Yandle and Andrej Sekera will be available at the deadline.

Primary scoring is a bigger issue than secondary scoring. All we have is secondary scorers lol

overall this thread just seems a tad pointless as it basically says we should improve scoring and defense, no **** every team wants to do that.

Special teams. We're deep enough to have a spread offense. Add ten powerplay goals and we have as many goals as Pittsburgh.

The Habs biggest weakness is the coaching staff. The PP wouldn't suck as badly if the right players were on the ice. Someone like Eller or Sekac should be out there screening the goalie...not Brendan bloody Gallagher. There's rarely anyone in front of the net on the Habs PP. It's so glaring it's sick. Add to that the dumb situational personnel choices and these coaches really need upgrading.

we need a top 4 right handed dman. Subban only needs a good number 3 to play beside him and markov is fine for now. One of tinordi or beaulieu has the potential to replace markov. Emelin at 3,8 millions needs to go( in a package for a top 4 rhd).

We have great forwards prospect that will score goals... We have to wait.

This year in the playoffs only pittsburg or tampa bay will give us trouble in a 7 game series... We can maybe win the east but we will get destroyed against chicago.

How about we try putting a big guy in front of the net like most NHL teams. Why is our PP so special that we can plug 5-foot something players there?

Hard to argue
Slow to react
Slow to Adapt
Slow to fix the PP
SLow to realize that DD is not a horse to hitch your wagon to, but lets play him on the PP and lets pair him with Pacioretty in OT
What Therrien needs to realize is that Coach's favorites are stars; players who perform and deliver STARS not quite DD

My very first thought when i saw the thread title was...
"The Coach"
...and of course, I'm late to the party.

...the sad thing is that as long as we keep playing well enough to win the lion's share of our games (see: Price continues to save our bacon), nothing will be done to rectify our terrible coaching staff...

Markov is a #4??? The only team that has Markov as its #4 is an All-star team

Defense. Subban is a #1, Markov is #2, an aging #2 but still a #2. And then, the rest are #5, #6, #7. We do not have a 2nd pairing on this team. And that's a big problem. But then, we might not have a 2nd line either....

They have the personnel to have a solid 2nd and 3rd line, but instead they send out terribly ineffective lines and over rely on goaltending.

Oh and the cherry on top of course is to constnatnly kill momentum with an abysmal power play that hasn't changed at all in 13 months despite being awful the entire time.

Go Therrien!

No one cares
1. Max Pacioretty is our only real offensive threat.

2. Carey Price is our savior way too many times

3. Fix the PP by moving Pk Subban to the half wall aka Ovechkin and have Eller/Sekac in front of the net.

4. Add some sand paper, we are much to soff.

5. Be more prepared to start games, that falls on the coaching staff.

We'd have a better record if we could score on the damn powerplay.

Also, if Pacioretty went down with an injury, I worry about where a lot of our scoring would come from.

And on top of that... having a defenseman to play with Subban so Markov can play on the second pairing would be ideal.

This team is still not a for sure thing.....as well as we have played, if we had only six less points right now, or 3 less wins we would be out of a playoff spot, its crazy how tight this league is right now.

Primary scoring. We need a game breaker type forward that can make the difference every night. That's our biggest problem.
