I really want to see Kassian - Smith - Neil out there to get some energy going at some point. That could be a scary line to line up against.

Daugavins has been a rock on the PK all season. I hate taking him out for an AHL goon.
Regin is in for Rooster. Kassian is replacing Stone. Considering how much Stone has played last few games.... we really aren't losing many minutes. Now it's a different story on what he does with those minutes, but hopefully he's better at getting the puck out of the defensive zone than Zenon was in the regular season.

What do you guys dislike about Kassian's game and why do you prefer Daugavins? Specificity please.

...because he couldn't make the roster of an NHL team that is worse than the Sens, and was only really brought in to fight. There's a reason why he wasn't claimed when he went through waivers a few weeks ago.

Pretty harsh to dismiss Kassian as an AHL goon before we've even seen him play. If he can do for us what someone like Matt Martin does for the NYI then he could be very valuable. Not gonna get my hopes up yet that he can play anything like Martin, but it's definitely worth giving him a shot.

We'll see. Daugavins is only making our roster because of injuries and he still isn't playing every night. Minnesota has a better roster than we do right now. Maybe watch Kassian play and then form an opinion? I'd like to see what kind of dimension he can bring to the team before condemning him to being worse than an AHL PK specialist that really doesn't do much else.

I mean...he's good at PKing but he's a -8 with 2 points in 18 games.

Honestly, I won't pass judgement on him yet since I've never seen the guy play. I know the stats aren't impressive but he's not that kind of player. If he can forecheck hard, lay some bodies and just play hard, I won't be dissapointed.

Hopefully Kassian impresses.

I'd love him if he did this: finishes his checks on the fore-check, isn't a liability, goes to the net and fights well. Doesn't have to put up amazing numbers, just get to the net.
