Meh, we could have had this guy off waivers but instead gave an asset for him. Not a great move but its too small to really criticize too harshly.

I would have rather gone after Parros.

This guy is 7 years younger than Parros - guess he's moldable.

Looks like we have someone to answer the staged fights bell now.

My opinion:

a) Waste of a roster spot for a guy that sucks at playing hockey
b) Waste of an asset (6th round pick) for a guy that sucks at playing hockey
c) Waste of an asset for a guy we could have picked up on waivers
d) The guy is a bit of a douchecanoe

I'd agree with your assessment besides point d) since I know nothing of his personality but I'll take your word for it.

Its a worthwhile deal though if guys like Patrick Wiercioch and Chris Phillips don't have to drop the gloves anymore. That was a disturbing trend. Love that guys are sticking up for their teammates but we need these guys on the ice and not in the box for 19 minutes. 5 minutes I can live with but the officials aren't going to let it happen.

Do people really think we signed this guy for Cooke? Why would Cooke face a heavy weight? Why would we wait so long, especially since he was on waivers for retribution?

Yeah I agree, especially on the waivers bit, but I don't expect much from 6th round picks (besides Alfie). Still, I'm not mad, just meh.

Is Kassian a heavy (don't know about him)?

This is the exact reason we picked him up. We can't afford to keep losing minute hogs for 15+ to send a message that a refs apparently can't do themselves

Hard to criticize this move, for a 6th round pick in a weak draft.

Hopefully he'll put Matt Cooke's face through the glass, along with anyone that cheap shots our guys.

The person who will benefit from this the most is Chris Neil. As a vet we need him on the ice more than we need him in the box, and as he ages we need someone who can fill the 'fight the other team's tough guy' role.

I'm sure Paulrus won't be giving him 8 mins a game of time.

This guy was picked in the second round!?!? (Albeit one of the last 3 picks)

He had like 6 points in 60 games in his draft year in the CHL hahah.

It's a 6th, no big deal if he turns out to be useless. And not getting him on waivers makes sense as well since he would be stuck on the NHL roster for the remainder of the season no matter what.
