A week ago half of this board was on suicide watch because apparently the Cup had already been awarded to the Rangers.

Lots of post removals in the Rag thread in regard to the Lightning fan being sucker punched. At least one poster was defending the Rag fan saying he could post several attacks on Rag fans by Lightning fans in Tampa.

Imagine the arrogant stupidity to assault someone with 20000 people around and think you can get away with it in the age of cameras everywhere.

Then again, his idol Trouba does it too :sarcasm:

He hit his head really hard on the ground and the reaction time for security to get him some help looks like it was super slow so it wouldn't really be surprising if the guy passed away. Hope that's not true though.

Like you said I'm more amazed people still do this kind of shit when there are cameras everywhere and you can easily ruin your entire life in a split second.

For perspective, you absolutely can kill someone doing that like it did a few weeks ago

There is no way to go too far the other way. We can enjoy this and see what happens. I don’t think anyone sees Tampa as unstoppable, they’re really banged up, Vasi is a bit gassed and they don’t have the same depth. Tampa basically needed to win this game and they did.

Ryan Callahan on SportsCenter after the game brought up a good point about fatigue setting in for the Rangers. He talked about how in 2012, the Rangers' first two round series each went the full 7 games and towards the end of the ECF series against the Devils (which they lost in 6), emotional and physical toll that those earlier series took on them was really starting to set in. He mentioned they just didn't have their legs going by the end of that series.

The Devils that year went 7 games in the opening round but took out Philly in 5 in round 2, so they had some rest prior to the ECF. Very similar to what Tampa has done this season. Rangers took 2 of 3 to open the series against NJ, then the Devils won 3 straight to close it out. The long layoff after Tampa swept the Panthers might've hurt them to start this series, but should be a big advantage at this point.

Jesus Christ.

Disgusting assault. Hope they arrested this guy and the Tampa fan is OK.

That being said (and I'm surely not looking to victim blame here), what the hell was the Tampa fan thinking exactly? You're in enemy territory surrounded by angry, drunk fans from the opposing team. This type of thing absolutely should never happen in a civilized society, but we all know there's always that risk.

Personally, I wouldn't even be rocking a Tampa jersey myself in that situation. If I did, I probably would wait for the crowd to clear out before leaving, especially since Rangers fans were all amped up seeing their team blow a pivotal game with less than 2 minutes left and watching a couple of their players getting their asses beat after the final horn sounded. And if I was walking out in that hostile crowd like that, I wouldn't be engaging in any back and forth banter and I would sure as hell have my head on a swivel.

As Anastasio tried to run away, police say the witness tried to stop him, which resulted in Anastasio punching the witness in the face, too. Officers say the witness "sustained pain and bruising" to his face, but he refused medical treatment.

Shortly after that, police say officers arrived and arrested Anastasio. He was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

The man who was knocked unconscious is considered to be stable, NYPD said.

I certainly wouldn’t have let that guy refuse medical attention if that were me…assuming he was intoxicated.

The article I linked made it sound like another fan that was punched by this guy afterwards refused medical attention, but also mentioned that they guy in the video that got knocked out "is considered to be stable" according to NYPD, so it seems he did get medical attention.

You're right, anything can still happen. But I hope people understand the Rangers are not the unstoppable juggernaut that some posters are pretending. Their team looks a lot less impressive after they lose a couple of coin flips.
People forget a few elbows to heads and really inconsistent goaltending have kept the Rangers in this far longer than they would have if any proper matchups came their way. Tampa has legit goaltending that doesn't choke in key moments.

Yeah I was expecting an actual brawl, not a Tie Domi cheap shot - then again I only watched the first forty seconds.
The thing is, though, will the Police do ANYTHING?

They don't exactly have a stellar recent-past record, if you get my meaning....

I was thinking of posting the vid but decided not to.

Glad I did so.

For them to actually DEFEND someone who may have actually KILLED the guy, is PATHETIC (even for Rags fans).

Hope this is true at least

They CAUGHT HIM???

THANK CHRIST!!

Now let's hope our Injustice system has an off-day and delivers JUSTICE for a change....

...throw that piece of s--t UNDER THE JAIL/PRISON!!

Good news...

So we have the bastard's name.

Bolts fans, I imagine, will be setting up a dartboard with his face on it shortly.... 😈

In all seriousness, though... Glad he's been caught and charged.

It's a goddamn GAME, not LIFE OR DEATH. :shakehead

If he found the trash-talk (if that's what the Bolts fan was doing) annoying, he could've turned around and gave the guy the Finger or told him to STFU....instead he acted like a Neanderthal.

And now his life is forever negatively changed.

Good luck finding a job, MORON!

EDIT : Oh and to whomever mentioned that you shouldn't be rocking your own team's jersey at the opponent's home ice? Get out of here with that!! He is well within his rights to wear his team jersey. The bastard was NOT within *his* rights to sucker-punch him just 'cause his team lost a goddamn hockey *GAME*.

Good on the witness, though that was pretty risky on his part as the bastard could've had a knife or shiv or something on him.

Also, glad to hear the victim is stable and doesn't seem like his life is in danger.

NSFW warning.

I unfortunately watched this this other day and wish I hadn't.

Granted, it looks like a drug deal gone bad and not a rando being sucker punched at a hockey game, but it's still exceptionally foul.

The lesson(s) here? Keep your head up and NEVER fight on concrete if it's in any way avoidable.

Glad they caught the sob at the game and I hope they throw the book at him.

I'd rather they throw a right-hook to his face instead of the book.

See how HE likes being Sucker-Punched.

Except that's exactly what you're doing.

I've worn the red and the black numerous times at the toilet and have no intentions on stopping. Can it be unpleasant? Sure. But not to that level.

I'd rather they throw a right-hook to his face instead of the book.

See how HE likes being Sucker-Punched.
I'm pretty sure a guinea from Staten Island will get his just due in Rikers.

ONE person....ONE....attacked him.

It's not like every Rags fan jumped him like they were a gang.

Everyone else just stood there in shock (with a few nimrods laughing at the victim getting KO'd but a few other good samaritans helping the guy) at what that nitwit just did in front of 20000 witnesses.

And anyway, as far as drunk fans go, visiting fans have access to booze, too, you know?

Maybe MSG should stop selling it perhaps?

Yeah, that was me. Go back and read what I actually wrote... I said: "Personally, I wouldn't even be rocking a Tampa jersey myself in that situation."

I have no problem if other fans wear opposing jerseys, but for me I don't feel the upside of rocking a Devils jersey in certain arenas/situations is worth the shit it could bring on from certain portions of the fanbase. If people want to rock it though, more power to them.

I wore a Devils hat to a game in Montreal one time many years ago. Vast majority of the fans we were awesome & we talked to a few that thought it was cool that we traveled up from NJ to catch a game there. There was also a drunk Canadians fan in the seat in front of me that stood up and was turned around talking shit to me for absolutely no reason right as the game was getting started. Other Montreal fans behind us immediately started yelling at the guy to knock it off and the two of them almost got in a fight. Every fanbase has a handful of idiots, some more than others.

The truth is, all sporting events should stop selling (or at least limit) and promoting booze.

The problem is that revenue would drop straight through the floor.
