Easy to blame Ericsson, but if you give them 7 PP opportunities, sooner or later there's going to be a goal. It's playing with fire to take this many penalties, we could have easily lost the game because of it.

5-on-5 we were pretty good.

Definitely. And how many good clearings did Ericsson had on those successful penalty kills? No one mentions them. And he wasn't taking any penalties.

But ERICSSON! MISTAKE! Looks like it's the only thing people want to remember from this game.

At what point do we seriously think Mrazek is in the convo for the Vezina? I know Holtby has prety much locked this up, but it would be cool to see Petr as a nominee. His numbers say he's right there...

He's played like 5-6 fewer games but has better numbers across the board other than wins. And I guarantee Mrazek gets the goal support the Caps give Holtby and he gets more Ws too.

5-6 games played shouldn't be the difference in Vezina discussions. Mrazek is carrying a much weaker team than the Caps into the playoffs right now.

Feels great, man :) We're a plus-team at long last.

Ugh, really, really hope DD will be able to play on friday. Doesn't sound good that he can't put weight on it though.
Our top three d-man out will be brutal. At least XO will get to play, always something to look forward to

The DDK couldn't put weight on it, was he didn't feel he could put enough on it to skate. It didn't sound like your typical the guy cannot put any weight on it. Just wasn't confident enough in the leg right after to put the kind of weight on it to turn and skate and whatnot. Didn't sound like a he is on crutches scenario at least in the post-game presser.

All I know is that Ericsson is absolutely brutal.

Because of the DK injury and penalties Ericsson played more minutes than anyone on the team with 22+, 7:27 of which was on the PK.

Yes the Sens finally scored on their 7th power play and ruined Mrazek's shutout, but was he brutal? Not really.

Thought we dominated the game, outside of the amount of penalties.

Also, LOVE the lines - really gives us 3 solid scoring lines. Everything seems to be in it's right place with Dats and Z together.

I feel like the reason we brought in Richards was to run Z and D, and from the start we never really gave it a chance. Now with Larkin being able to carry a line and Blash having confidence to let him we can actually let D and Z roll. We are a healthy Kronwall, and a top 6 forward from
A decent run, or a Vatanen and a Ladd/Boedker to be a contender...

Smith has been solid in the absence of our better D's, has created some nice chances but hasn't executed yet. Quincey has also elevated his game, saved a certain goal with the stick lift.

If these guys can stay solid it'll be a real bonus when Kronwall and Green return.

Agree and even then Ottawa didnt have a lot of great chances to score.
