Devils get out of the Baddock ELC which made no sense now and still makes no sense and Edmonton frees up some space. Baddock is on his first year of his ELC and has 3 assists in 18 games in the ECHL.

That's actually probably more along the lines of what the Oilers would be looking for.

Baddock was also an Edmonton Oil King and is from Vermillion, Alberta (wherever that is).

(Probably a good chance Arizona takes him in return for Vrbata with a pick).

Leafs are rumored to be in the market for a cap dump to bring back additional assets...

What about Ference for a pair of 3rds? One this year, one next?

Leafs replace picks lost due to Babs and Lou.

He's on LTIR with a career ending hip injury. He'd be retired if not for the fact he was still under contract this season. But because of the Oilers bonuses on McDavid/Draisaitl they can't take advantage of any bonus LTIR cap space from Ference.

Can you elaborate? Why do bonuses negate the cap relief from LTIR?

I don't see any reason the Oilers would do that. The team taking him loses literally nothing but cap space for the rest of the year.

They don't but until you are right at or over the cap the relief from LTIR doesn't kick in. Since the Oilers aren't they don't get that relief. So when the bonuses are tallied at the end of the year if the Oilers are at 68M and they roughly get 5M in bonus they would have to carry whatever the overage is into next season.

A 3rd gets you Vanek .. Oilers are not going to throw away a couple of 3rds just to get rid of some salary.
