If he really wants to try, he can trade for Karlsson if they are willing to pay for it. If he is thinking long-term though, it would not be wise to trade for him since it would be tough to fit Karlsson within the many other players Edmonton have to pay.

My guess would be Barrie, but not sure if Colorado still has that guy available.

He had 16 more points than any Oilers D. Would have been 4th overall in scoring for Edmonton.

Definitely not a flashy pickup, but could work for a much smaller cost than most names being thrown around.

100% he's getting the better player in the pick itself than when he's trading. He's been fleeced badly multiple times now when it comes to any combination of trade. Edmonton should have fired his ass before he makes them worse again.

And I'm really surprised people are instantly breaking up our D-Core when names like Ellis and Subban come up. Why are we even in trade talks? Did previous cup contenders EVER trade big, established pieces of their core when they are in their window to contend!?

That's probably true, I am an avs fan afterall, and used to have Barrie in place of Timmins until Melnyk admitted they were going full rebuild. That said, most other avs fans are loathe to move that Ottawa pick until we know it won't be Hughes, and hate me for this proposal.

Personally, I thought Edmonton made out best, assuming EK came with an extension. But I'm almost convinced that ghetto would be a 70 point player next to McJesus.
