Should we make it a somewhat targeted discusion though?

Like "Chicken" or "Wine" or "Cheese"

Food is very broad and narrowing it down could help with the quality of food talk since we should expect the quality of the hockey to not be conducive to much in terms of banter

We could always just have a poll of red vs. white wine.

Ketchup and Chicken are pretty good together.

I'd never thought of pairing the two. Hmmmmmmmmm

Scorched earth maple leaf chicken......I like it.

I'll start the recipe, feel free to add:

Chicken- burn on grill....use liberal amount of free agent money to achieve high heat

put chicken directly over fans flames to get the right amount of char

tweet, facebook and use every other social media to invite to dinner

char some more

be careful of jersey fire.....quickly throw on ice

put out fire and baste chicken with ketchup

plate 16 lbs of assorted pieces for Kessel...he like the wings.....perhaps Red wings?

Assuming no major issues getting there tomorrow I'll be at the game, possibly visible at some point

Seriously, there's no point

Not true.

I prefer red overall, but ever since moving to the tropics, I've mostly drank white here. In a vacuum red is better, but after 60 straight days of 37 degree heat, you want a cold beverage. The last thing you want in a humid, sweaty, tropical thunderstorm is red wine.

White has plenty of merits.

Chilled pinot. Can't stand white even in the tropics. Or beer.

.....ok. You're all insane.

Expecting a win tonight. Time to regain our confidence by slaughtering a craptastic Oilers team.

Hmm. Never heard of a red wine being chilled, but im fairly new to wine myself.

I don't like white wine at all so that would be a good summer afternoon drink.

Most reds should be served cooler than room temperature. A big bordeaux or Shiraz at about 16 or 17 degrees C; lighter reds like Pinot or Gamay should be cooler.

Hockey and red wine -- about the only two topics I am deeply interested in....
