It is time that the Oilers move away from Lucic. He is not the old Lucic they wanted ..... he has slowed down. He still has upside but just Not a good fit with the Oilers.

Would rather use that $6 million salary else where.

So that being said ..... What team would take him?? And what could the Oilers get in return??

I think this would be a case of what are you willing to give up to shed the contract, not how much you'd get back. Right now giving him that contract looks like a glaring error in judgement so there's probably not going to be a lineup of teams to bail you out of the last 5.5 years of it, even rebuilding teams are likely to see that as a cap hindrance because of the term

He's got a full NMC (until 2021 where it turns into a modified NTC) on top of being overpaid with term. Its going to have to be a place he oks and Edmonton would either have to pay to move the contract or take cap with term back.

Yes we all know and agree that he has negative value ........ But is there a team that would be willing to take him .... salary retained or cap back in return???

I think you'll still need to give something back to incentivize. Lucic looks like he'll be a bad player before that contract is up so there needs to be a reason for someone to take him even at less cap

His contract negates any value he has.

Why would we consider it anyways? He's on pace for about 60 points this season despite being his inconsistent self.

Lucic for Eriksson doesn't clear cap space, but one of the two players probably benefits from the change of scenery.

That old, slow, useless cap dump has 10 points, is + 2, and has 40 PIM in 14 games since Nov 1.

Extrapolated over 82 games, that's 59 points, + 12, and 234 PIM - or one of the best power forward seasons in recent memory.

Weirdly timed, OP. Weirdly. Timed.

Agreed. He's not amazing, but he's still a solid top line winger. His contract isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Didn't he have a slow start last year too?

Lucic is on pace for 51 points playing physical hockey and is the Oilers' top scoring winger with Draisaitl back at center. Explain why he needs a change of scenery? He is what he is and isn't struggling.

Even Eriksson has 8 points in 12 games.

That best power forward of recent memory started the season with 5 pts and -2 in his first 10 games. Extrapolated over 82 games that's 41 pts, -0.

Arbitrarily picking one game to start counting while dimissing others is silly. You never get a clearer picture by diminishing the sample size. That is only done to shade the truth.

And another thing- Why in the world would 234 PIM be a good thing?

The good ol extrapolated technique. What would dustin browns numbers look like extrapolated over this season?

I liked looch in LA, but that contract isnt pretty

Or wonderfully timed, for those Oiler fans who don't think he was a good idea. There must be a few of those but maybe not.

What about swapping bad conrtracts with assets on the returning side, such as Marc Staal, and Tony D for lucic no salary retained
