André Savard mentions as well that he would then trade Eller. He would trade Eller rather than DD because he has more value than DD in the market. Thoughts?

That's why not being on the first offensive unit will help.

We won't count on him to produce, ie. putting better players in that position such as Galchenyuk. He also won't face the best opposing defenders.

On a 3rd line he would not have to produce much. As for long term it's not like we don't have options for the 3rd line in Hamilton.

Edmonton fans want us to add, but really why should we? If I Were Bergevin I'd say things such as "He's doomed to fail in Edmonton anyway." but I guess all it takes is an other team to outbid us, unless they REALLY want Eller that bad. I'd be willing to add a 3rd or 2nd round pick along with Eller if you really twist my arm about it because the potential payout is huge but that's about it.

To be fair...

If Eller can get us Yakupov, I pull the trigger.
If Price can get us Crosby, I pull the trigger.
If Subban can get us... uhh... Crosby, I pull the trigger.

Trading Desharnais for us is like them trading Yakupov, you know you won't get fair value.

I would do Desharnais vs Perron. Everybody would play in their role (Galchenyuk #1C, Pleky #2C, Eller #3C). If we get injuries, we always have Hudon and DLR playing in Hamilton.
