Most fans think there is. Why else would they be looking at Saad
Holland wasn't hired to Chiareli 2.0 this team. The fans can think whatever they want.

Would he like to add some cheap help, sure. Is he feeling pressure that he needs to make a big move from anyone? Nope

Saad would be a good fit, someone to drive the play on Neal's line. JT Miller lite. Doesn't really even need to produce just keep them from being hemmed in their own zone and generate offensive face-offs for McDrai

If Edmonton can do it and just give up ~Jones and Gagner/Manning and low picks/filler they should. Also should've claimed Czarnik and worked him into the lineup slowly

Beyond Carolina, Colorado stands out as a potential suitor. The Avs are checking in on Kreider per Friedman in that segment, but Saad at a similar price point is a better option, if Chicago makes him available in-division. That's the beauty of the extra year. A team has Saad locked in at $6 mil for 20-21. Kreider, who turns 29 in April, will likely require a regrettable commitment to retain. That's scary if a team has big pay days coming for their stars (Makar in 2021 and MacKinnon 2023).

a decent bit, but Holland doesn’t trade firsts for players. He’ll trade down, but not lose the picks outright. The last time he did so was 2004 and that was a horrible decision. Saad, while I like the player, would be an equally horrible decision given the organization’s need of forward prospects, shaky playoff ground, and depth of this draft.
As GM of the Red Wings Holland probably traded his 1st round picks for players more often than any GM in league history, often in consecutive years, once three years on a row, and exclusively for veteran players. He traded his 1999 and 2000 1sts for Chelios, his 2002 1st for Hasek, his 2003 1st for Schneider, his 2004 1st for Lang and his 2012 1st for Kyle Quincey. That's 6 1sts traded in 14 seasons.

Would they trade Saad, Crawford, Beaudin for RNH, Gagner, Manning, Smith, Puljujarvi? Chi absorbs bad contracts

Saad goals/yr 11-23-18-24-31=107 $6M

RNH goals/yr 7-28-24-18-12=89 $6M

That's also 1 in 15 years. As mentioned, that's a different team, different time. Holland's even said since then that he values first round picks more now.

Also before the salary cap was in place and they could spend $90M

missed the Quincey deal, but you could also phrase that as “once in the last 15 years” and every time he did it since Hasek it’s been an awful decision. If they’re dead set on an unprotected first, it won’t be from us.

Horrawful

RNH>Saad

your taking a bunch of 1 year dumps and giving us a crappy long term one back

Not to mention defense is the last thing we need so Beaudin does absolutely nothing for us, especially since he’s a lefty

So 3 good assets for 1 good asset and a prospect who has failed to live up to his hype? This isnt even remotely fair value

Totally. Saad is definitely a player the Oilers should be checking in one. Something they desperately need: as you said, a play-driving winger. I think even something like Pulju + Jones + mid pick would be a steal for Saad. Add cap dumps as needed.
