Look at your own team, the Sharks, from a depth perspective... take out their top 3 forward goal scorers and the next 3 have 9, 10 and 11 goals... the Oilers 19, 16, 16. Without Burns playing at a Norris season pace, with only 7 points in his last 17 games (since the beginning of March), the Sharks have gone 7-10.

Yes, Burns is a prime example when the offense is driven primarily through a single player. Pre-March he was neck and neck with McDavid as far as factoring in on the higher % of goals. As soon as he went cold so did the Sharks

A few small differences in the depth area between Edmonton and San Jose

- Edmonton's top 3 forward goal scorers play on the same line
- Sharks top 3 forward goal scorers play across the top 2 lines

- 2nd tier for Edmonton (Lucic, Eberle, RNH, Letestu) 40.9% of their goals came on the PP
- 2nd tier for San Jose (Karlsson, Hertl, Boedker, Tierney) 5.1% of their goals came on the PP

- 2nd tier for Edmonton have 39 non-PP goals over 309 combined games played .126 goals per game
- 2nd tier for San Jose have 38 non-PP goals over 266 combined games played .142 goals per game

All of this all ignores that Burns is not included in this conversation
Also as it only looks at goals Thornton is not really factored.

Granted at the moment the Sharks are playing without their top two centres, so all they have is is their depth.

Anyone from the Pacific can make it to the Conference Final. It's completely realistic. Unfortunately Chicago stands in the way of the Cup Final, and there isn't another team in the West that stands up to them right now.
