What would the Oilers give the Habs to take Lucic brutal contract back? I think he has another 5 years at 6 million a season. The NHL is getting faster and Lucic is clearly not? The Oilers would save cap room to sign Nurse etc..

If I were the Habs I would want Yamamoto & a 2nd rd pick?

Yamamoto and a 2nd to give up Lucic would obliterate our winger depth.

I would give maximum a 2nd to persuade a team to get Lucic.

Nothing . We will keep him and see how he rebounds . If he doesn't rebound over the next 2 season we can then move him to a cap floor team because in real dollars he will be owed 13 million . Even if we keep him this year and trade him after his bonus is paid on July 1 2019 he will be owed 16 million in real money over 4 years at which point he should be very movable if the Oilers retain 1 million . He still brings a physical element which can help a young team .

Nothing.

The Oilers have mostly managed their cap crunch for this season. Sekera's LTIR money will give the team some wiggle room with just Nurse left to sign.

The Oilers winger depth is so bad that we're much better off hoping for a bounce back than paying out the nose to get rid of Lucic.

Check back next offseason with a more realistic offer. Yamamoto +2nd is an absurd ask.

A lottery protected 1st for Lucic + roster player back. Thats it.

Yamamoto? Puljujarvi? Bouchard? Yeah right...[MOD]

That's cool. Enjoy Lucic then.

Giving up a 1st round pick for Lucic you gotta be kidding me...

Lucic is the worst contract in hockey. Hes finished. Awful signing by a GM as dumb as bergevin. Interesting how our bergevin actually offered lucic more money. LOL

Lucic’s Contract is another 5 years of $6m a season dead cap space. If you want to keep Lucic at that cap hit,Cool. But if you want a team, any team, to shoulder that load, it’s going to cost a significant asset or two

Lucic is a relic in today’s NHL. Boeser’s season was cut short by a freak injury when he slammed into an open door on the bench. Having a Lucic one the team wouldnt have changed that.
I bet that door wouldn't be hurting anyone else.

#1 - Lucic has a full NMC until 2021. Then he can choose 8 teams to be traded to.
#2 - Even if it were 2021, it's kinda doubtful that Lucic would choose to be traded to Montreal. Dude has consistently looked better playing on a team that's playing well and I'm sure he's aware of it.
#3 - This was 2nd blah season in the past decade, so spending assets to dump him after having one blah year with him doesn't sound like a great idea.

If for some reason Lucic wanted to be traded to Edmonton, I highly doubt Edmonton would be willing to cough up anything more than a 1st round pick and that's assuming that Oilers aren't taking a toxic contract in return.

Why do people think Lucic would even entertain a trade to Montreal? What is Montreal going to do with him? Convert him to a center?

I don’t see the Habs being interested. If Lucic had two more years on his contract and the Oilers were in a cap crunch? Yeah, I could see a deal being made here but not at the current situation.

Oilers doesn’t need cap relief right now and Habs doesn’t need an anchor contract for 5 more years

Lucic had a crap year, no denying that, but it is so noteworthy because he has been a consistent player for his whole career, so last year is pretty anomalous. I feel pretty good predicting a bounce back year for the guy, and even if his production starts to dip from the 50 points he’s usually good for, I am not on board with the idea of shelling out big time sweeteners to a team like the Habs to take his contract. Your gm has bunged up your team, no reason we should be throwing you a bunch of freebies so you can start your rebuild.
You know who else had a crap year last year? Patches! What will you give us to take your underperforming winger off your hands? Since he has only one year left...I’d say a 2nd and a we throw a cap dump your way.

A good joke is a good joke, but where would they play him? For that kind of money they are going to want a player they need don't you think? Do they really need another LW? I don't think so. Their strength seems to be LW right now. Maybe if they trade Pacioretty but I'll believe that when I see it.
