They'll probably do something like trade Talbot+ to Carolina for Ferland, give Ferland a stupidly expensive contract and end up regretting it halfway through next season. Seems to be the Oilers way.

I mean, the obvious answer is he does his job as he sees fit until such time as hes not GM.

The real question is why did ownership let him sign the goalie when the entire hockey world saw it coming
Ya, that was exactly my point.

How can the owner accept this, clearly he doesnt think Chia is fit to the task but let him sign a heavy contract ? Makes no sense

Ya, and the president or owner needs to see the signature before accepting

Why would a owner accept his Gm to do a deal 1 day before he kicks him out?

It kind of looks like that signing was the deciding factor but you're right, it would have been wise for the Prez to monitor and veto but maybe he is just as bad?

Thats what I think too.

I mean I hear the " old boys club" and that the owners only hire their friends, but I hope they dont hire an other of their friends..

This doesnt make any sense. If the signing was the deciding factor for ownership, they wouldnt have let him do it.

My guess is they hire Burke and then trade Draisaitl for Ferland and Hamilton and the oilers are terrible for another decade.

It is puzzling nonetheless . Why not just fire him then instead of, waiting for another loss, & saying.......You're fired ?!

I seen one guy's response on Twitter that was pretty hilarious . It goes as such . Chiarelli giving Mikko Koskinen a 3 year extension as he was about to be fired is, the hockey equivalent of farting right before, leaving a room !:laugh::laugh:

Oilers ownership and management group is a dumpster fire.

They let Chiarelli sign a goalie with 20 games played to a 3 year 4.5M contract and then fire him a couple days later.

What a gong show.
