Maybe you fail to see just how much negative value Lucic has.

If MacK is being added then so is Draisaitl.

It’s embarrassing you think the difference between McDavid and MacKinnon is Makar + potentially Hughes or Kaako. Bouchard is nowhere near Makar.

We don't want any draft picks if the name your calling for is Mcdavid. You're offering a bunch of magic beans to an org that has well documented issues with drafting and developing... And for the best player in the f***ing world, at age 22, and signed for the next 7 years no less.

Mcdavid can and absolutely would fetch Mackinnon + Makar. Saying to add Draisaitl is laughable... If we're giving you both those guys we better be getting back a majority share of the franchise because that is f***ing ridiculous. You start with MacKinnon, make a big add from there (Makar or Rantanen) and then we can talk. If not then you can take your futures and f*** off.

A team desperate to sell tickets would easily pony up Barkov or Aho +++ so we'd much rather go there instead of accept your magic beans.

Drai’s the better goal scorer, plays with significantly worse linemates when not with McDavid, and only ever gets one good linemates at a time whereas MacKinnon gets a steady diet of Landeskog and Rantanen, not to mention Barrie headmanning the puck.
Ever heard of Corsi mac is plus 200 Leon is minus 40.... Mac drives the play and controls the pick in a way few players can I would think a fanbase that watch's mcjesus every night would understand the difference between a guy who dominates the play and a player who is very good but is mostly just finishing at a high rate... Shooting % is one hell of a drug

Mackinnon is very obviously > Draisaitl even if you factor out contracts.

But that's not the problem here, the problem is the shitty ass proposal for the best player the game has seen in a decade. If you had Mcdavid I'm sure you'd laugh your ass off at that offer too...

Who gives a damn about Corsi  Drai has emerged as an elite player in his own right and a high level scorer and frankly he’s better than McDavid some nights.

If MacKinnon was playing with Toby Rieder and Alex Chiasson as his wingers when he was at centre you’d get some idea of what Draisaitl is capable of to put up the numbers he has when 40% of the time he’s with complete slugs.

It's hard to see the Oilers competing in the next 3 years with 10.5m locked up in Lucic and Koskinen. If McDavid is upset now, he's going to be a lot more upset in after missing the playoffs a couple more times. Makar and the Sens pick are massive pieces. All that being said I know it would never happen.
With both of those guys in place the Oilers could have a lot of free cap space as early as the 2020-2021 season with no one other than Nurse of consequence left to sign. Add a 6M winger and a $4M 3rd line center. Re-sign Nurse for $6.5M. Add a $2M back up. $2M or so left with only a #14 forward to sign. And that is with both Russell and Sekera.

By July 2, 2020 Lucic has three years left with only $10M in salary. The Oilers could eat $2M and have a second team eat $2M in cap space and the final team would only be on the hook for $2.5M in real dollars over three years. Replace Lucic with a guy making $1M on the fourth line and take back contracts you can bury and you just bought yourself another $3M+.

Cap space is not the issue for the Oilers. Finding someone clever enough to use it wisely is the problem.

He altered his game because our wingers are **** and McDavid needed a finisher. Lucky for us he’s an elite passer too.
Says evey fan base who has a player shooting a career high percentage get back to me next year when he's still a very good player who both not as good as mac and not shooting over 20%

We’re in a thread where OP is offering magic beans and sock lint for Connor McDavid and you’re mad Draisaitl is shooting 4% over his career average?

In theory maybe, but seems tough to ice a good team with 10.5m in essentially nothing.
