I've often viewed Stetcher in a somewhat similar light to Ethan Bear with slightly better puck movement and a bit less of a shot.

Arguably Nurse's best results were with Bear except in playoffs.

Here's hoping..... (especially as Stecher's playoff stats are actually pretty decent for a limited sample size).
Not a bad comparison. Nurse did well with Bear because Bear was good at retrieving the puck and quick zone exits. Ceci is bottom of the league in both those categories. Bear was also good against the rush as well. If Stetcher can do those things (his analytics shows he does them well) you may have a good pair.

I’d run Pickard tonight and Skinner Thursday night.

Glad to see Knobby reads HFOil.

Ceci needs to clean it up. 3rd line is slow AF. Need Holloway up here as Colorado exposed our lack of speed. It’s a problem. Fix it up KK!

Agree 100% on Holloway. I’d bump Kane up to McDavid’s line just so Hopkins can move to Draisaitl’s line for defensive support. Draisaitl also needs someone who can pass him the puck. Then bump McLeod down a line to add speed to that third line. Holloway in for Janmark.

That third line was eaten alive by Colorado. Just too slow

If Pickard wins tonight do we start him next game ?

I still think Skinner is 100 % our guy heading into the playoffs but Pickard has good numbers this season too.
I don't think that's necessary. We're playing a metric shit ton of games in the next couple weeks so Pickard's going to play plenty. Thursday will only be Skinner's third game in 11 days so you want to keep him engaged as your starter, then we go through the 9 games in 15 days stretch where we likely need at least 3 games out of Pickard. Here's how I'd split the games:

No because when Desharnais comes back, Stetcher will be out and Ceci will still be in
Yeah, I don't think it matters what Stecher does. They seem married to the idea of a Ceci-Desharnais right side and I think it's a big mistake but,....we'll see.

Why? Skinner looked pretty fresh and solid last game, and will not have played for 5 days. Not sure what winning or losing has to do with it. It's about management at this point in the season.

If Stetcher makes a solid impression I see no reason to think they won't keep playing him.

Ceci isn't going to just be written out of the lineup because people here don't like him. Makes way more sense to rotate Ceci/VD/Stecher based on who the team is up against. None of them are bona-fide top 4 defensemen, so if one guy gets hot ride him until it cools.

Cup by committee.

They need to swallow their mistake and demote Brown and call up Holloway.

If the Oilers waived Brown and a teamed claimed him would the team that claimed him be on the hook for the bonus? Or would that still fall on the Oilers or is there a difference in who pays the actual cash of the bonus and who would be stuck with the caphit after wards?

@Fourier weren't you looking to this in some reguard?

I have heard the bonus as already been paid and the Oilers are in the hook for the cap hit no matter what.

The best we have is that the team he is on when the bonus is paid would almost for sure carry the full hit. It is also very likely that the Oilers have already paid the bonus. But so far as I know we don't know for sure that the bonus has been paid.

Additionally, I'd consider rotating every single game from the day Edmonton clinches a playoff spot unless Vancouver is within 4 points or one of Vegas and LA get within 4 points. I'd even consider calling up Campbell for a game or two in there somewhere if we're firmly entrenched into 2nd.

There's just so many games the rotation should trump concern over results. I'd also start rotating forwards and defense scratches, giving as many players as possibly a night off at some point in the final ten games.

I also like to point out that Saturday starts a stretch that sees them play 9 games in 15 days in 7 different cities.
If I was wearing a tin foil hat here I might point out an attempt to burn the team out right before the playoffs:huh:

If I were wearing a tin foil hat

ESPN+ had a 1 month free trial when I was down there last season. Maybe they have it now?

Enjoy the BBQ down there.

Oh and the ribs I had at Cordero’s in Vancouver last night were awesome.

Thanks, much appreciated, but I did a workaround with work laptop.

Just pretended I really needed porn and my juvenile mind figured out a solution right quick 😉
