Excellent contract if so. Would've been amazing for this team.

I'm guessing he got offered more term and money elsewhere. Dude just really wanted to go back to his boys in Chicago and wants another shot at the cup.

He'd probably just chuckle had Benning offered that.

Honestly would love Van to sign Vanek to two years on a heavily reduced deal.

He would be perfect to sit in front of the net and pot goals for the sedins and then we could create a legitimate second line with Baertschi - Horvat - Eriksson. Surround Sutter with Rodin and Virtanen for a speedy third line and then use Hansen - Granlund - Burrows as a shutdown line.

Eriksson signed to play with the Sedins. The only reason to bring a hugely reduced Vanek in would be to play with the Sedins, rack up points, and be moved at the deadline. So a big "no" to Vanek at this point.
