I will take, as a player/manager, and in keeping with my apparent theme, Rube Foster.

He will mostly simply manage the team, but he will be used, as necessary for spot starts.

I have UL's pick.

Brooklyn selects 19th century great, 3B/C - Deacon White

deacon-white-detroit-wolverines-612x300.jpg

Some Deacon White info:

1871-1890

Played every position including pitcher, but was mainly 3B and C. Upon his retirement, he was among baseball's all-time leaders in career games, at bats, hits and total bases. He ranked fourth in career total chances at third base, fifth in assists, and sixth in putouts and double plays.

.312 AVG
127 OPS+

In August 2008, White was named as one of ten former players who began their careers before 1943 to be considered by the Veterans Committee for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009; although he fell short in final voting, he received the most votes of any player whose career ended before 1940. In 2010, the Nineteenth Century Committee of the Society for American Baseball Research named White the year's Overlooked 19th Century Baseball Legend — a 19th-century player, manager, executive or other baseball personality not yet inducted into the Hall of Fame.

On December 3, 2012 the National Baseball Hall of Fame announced that he was elected to the Hall of Fame by the new Pre-Integration Era Committee (pre-1947 era), receiving 14 out of 16 votes; he and two others elected by the Committee were inducted on July 28, 2013, with his acceptance speech given by his great-grandson Jerry Watkins, the son of White's grandson Daniel. With over 166 years between his birth and date of induction, White is the oldest person ever inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

With pick 448, the Pittsburgh Pirates are pleased to select, SP Teddy Higuera.

The Pirates will keep Teddy stretched out with some spot starts, and in between will be the long man in the pen. It adds another strong lefty to our staff.

only pitched in 1380 innings, but baseball ref. has his career WAR at 30.

117 era+

16th all time on war per 200 innings pitched for starters, 4.10 war. (Min 1000 IP)

The St. Louis Cardinals are pleased to select their skipper, MGR - Joe Torre. Joe has the perfect demeanor for an all-time team, calming influence and let the high level players perform.

With pick 478, the Steamrollers select OF Willie Wilson.

.285/.326/.702

668 stolen bases (12th all time)

Wilson was a stellar defensive outfielder and a base stealing machine. He'll slot in as our fifth outfielder and a great pinch runner and defensive replacement.

With the 18th selection in the 23rd round (458th overall), the Homestead Grays select, Corner Outfielder/Thrid Baseman, Ryan "The Hebrew Hammer" Braun

ryan-braun-university-of-miami-hurricanes-2005-fielding-action-643173

Braun is considered a five-tool player for his ability to hit for power and average, his baserunning speed, and his excellent fielding and arm strength. Braun was a two-time All-American at the University of Miami, where he was named "National Freshman of the Year" by Baseball America in 2003. The Brewers drafted him in the first round (fifth overall) in the 2005 MLB Draft. He was the team's Minor League Player of the Year in 2006.

Braun was invited to play for Team USA in 2009 in the second World Baseball Classic. "I'm really excited to get to represent my country", he said. "It's an honor just to get invited for the event." He batted .381 as the team's starting left fielder, helping it reach the semi-finals.

Braun became the 7th player to have at least four 30-homer, 100-RBI seasons in his first five years. He also became the 11th major leaguer to hit at least 30 home runs in four of his first five seasons. In 2012, Braun became the ninth player in major league history to have a season of 40 home runs and 30 stolen bases. On August 19, Braun hit his 252nd home run during a game against the Miami Marlins setting the record as All-Time Home Run leader in Milwaukee Brewers franchise history. The record was previously held by Robin Yount.

"He looks like 'The Natural.'"
-Jim Powell, former Brewers' radio voice

CIR3EqRVEAEmKPK.jpg

Accolades

2015 All-Star
14.4 career WAR
31-13 record
2.31 ERA
1.005 WHIP

Darren O'Day is one of the premier relievers today. In 8 short seasons he has already amassed a career WAR of 14.4 along with a 185 ERA+. 431 Ks in 443.2 IP, with only 335 hits allowed. Simply put, this man is a beast and will be a very solid middle reliever for the Royals.

With the 461st pick, the Montreal Royals select RP Mike Stanton

Accolades

13.8 career WAR
All-Star (2001)
3x World Series champion (1998–2000)
895 Strikeouts

Mike Stanton was a fixture on the 1998-2000 Yankees World Series teams. He was at his best in the playoffs. In 53 playoff games, Stanton posted a 2.10 ERA and in 55.2 IP had 47 Ks and only allowed 43 hits. He'll be a good lefty out of the pen for the Royals, especially in crunch time.

With the 3rd pick in the 24th round (463rd overall), the Homestead Grays select, Left Handed Reliever, Tony Watson

20140806mfbucssports09-4.jpg

Watson isn't a larger than life player. He isn't a guy with tons of funny stories and quotes attributed to him. He just purely and simply a man who is extremely good at coming out of the bullpen in high leverage situations and getting the job done.

Tony has increased, or maintained, his WAR every season (0.4, 0.5, 1.4, 2.5, 2.5) to get to a 5 year total of 7.2.

Allie was a swing man as a starter and a reliever and we plan to use him mostly out of the pen as a "whatever whenever you need an out" guy.
