Nice to see those lines work like that. Larkin can even carry Helm and Richards to his own offense anyway... If we needed more evidence he carries his own offense at all times well there is that.

The thought that many have that Zetterberg has been carrying Larkin is hilarious. It's for people who don't watch the games. (not saying you're saying that, just saying).

History behind the timeout? Can't remember when and why the Isles called the timeout and if this is some kind of revenge for that?

As for "why?"

Either they were just being **********, or they did it as revenge against us for an incident 10 years before that none of us remember that the Red Wings did it to the Islanders.

So it's possible we're stuck in a vicious cycle and every time one of our teams is ahead of the other 5-1 in the third there is going to be a timeout.

Imagine if he had Hyman to carry him though?

Well Larkin would finish runner up for the Calder and Hart behind him....

Too bad Hyman wanted to have a terrible NHL career and didn't go to the same team as the guy he carried to success. I mean he can only hope to find a way to carry Nylander in a very defensive system in a similar manner and that is a tall order as Nylander is no Larkin....:D

Zetterberg does put him in at complete speed, you saw Datsyuk do that today on that set play. He understands how to use him.

I think Richards will likewise figure that out if they keep with this current lineup.

You must not visit the main boards much. It's said by many in more or less words.

Not many Wings fans though. It is more or less pointed out a lot that there were two great plays to make it happen. Z and Larkin read each other well. Datsyuk is really starting to get comfortable with him too in 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 situations not as much in their limited time together 5 on 5. Still Z and Dats think the game at an incredible level and they do put Larkin in a position to be successful a lot.

I think both guys have gone from elite to very good. What is getting interesting and was incredibly hard to predict is if Larkin is pushing his way to elite status by the end of the season. The way his development has gone through two years now, it might be the case that he is a completely feared shift to shift gamebreaker even in the post-season.

While that may be true, Larkin has actually produced better individually and team-on-ice wise away from Zetterberg.

Wow, Smith had a terrible game. Even for him it was bad. His penalty gave away Mrazek's SO and he had a dumb pass to Tatar that hung him out to dry and cause another PK. When he got hit a little later and dumped I fistpumped. Deserved it.

Speck of poo on an otherwise really impressive game.

I don't want to diminish Zetterberg's role and season though. While Larkin has certainly been independently great, Zetterberg was great with Larkin and has had a fairly good season in his own right.

Of note, really liked Jurco's game outside of the goal even once again today.

Green hit the goal column for the second straight game on the PP, yes it was five on three but he has the ability to be pretty streaky as well in terms of his history. A hot Mike Green streak would be absolutely huge for our PP, lets hope we see one.

Nyquist and Tatar have been better out of the break. They have more to give still, but have thought their compete level has been much better the last three. Tats has to take more care of the puck, but still nice to see him pot one.

If Larkin can carry a line, even if it has Richards and Helm on it that could get really really interesting in terms of what it does for our depth.

Nice game by AA, good injection of pace and interestingly he seemed to get Nyquist playing faster.

The D pairings worked well together tonight. Really good bounce back game from DeKeyser who was terrible in the Florida swing. Hoping he can build off that. Smith and Green seem to be making good progress.

Mrazek is a beast as usual! Made three big stops in the middle of the third when the Islanders had big time looks that maybe could have caused some nerves. He should start every game on this homestand. Hoping they can string together wins in all three, very powerful start to build off today.

Yeah great win by the home team Larks with another 2 point game, Hopefully he's getting hot and will challenge for the Calder. Jurco with a sweet goal. Makes Mrazeks job easier when his teammates are clicking on all cylinders.

Next week is huge.

4 games coming up, 3 of which are against teams in their division.

Well that's fine. If people who don't even watch Wings games want to say things that don't make sense, more power to them.

The important thing is that nobody who has ever watched Larkin play has ever thought he's a product of Zetterberg.
