China definitely did that and should be called out on it.

Man you really buy his talking points hook line and sinker.

Two things can be true at once.

1) China was trying to horribly mislead the world

2) Our reaction to this was horrible.

Many of our own agencies were warning about this and we didn't take it as seriously as we should have.

I don't see the horrible no... And most Americans agree. The efforts to step up response came with new information. Perfect? No. But none of these types of situations are.

For those that aren’t up on titles:

Title 10: federal forces
Title 32: State forces

National guard mobilizing under T32 means they work for their State governors. Basically for local emergency response. Very limited support to law enforcement, must pass a lot of checks.

Yet he formed the White House Corona Task Force on Jan 31 (which tapped the esteemed Dr. Fauci) and took the unprecedented step of banning travel from China.

That's quite a bit of action for a perceived nothing burger.

Old BS media narratives are hard to kill.
Action that will still be shown as ineffective and far too late to make a difference as the number of cases in the US starts to balloon past other contries, much like you see now.

The experts disagree.

on what? that the US has a huge # of undiagnosed cases right now, and has been behind on testing for months? Here's how we'll be able to tell - the body count at the end of this first wave of infections.

No it didn't. It came when someone on his staff or in his circle of advisors finally convinced the President of the scale of the problem. Whoever that person (or persons) is deserves a heap of praise. Nothing new came about a couple weeks ago. The warning from our own health agencies have been going on for over a couple months.

Behind who? The South Koreans weren’t testing initially. They were screening.

Behind what we should have been prepared for if we want to avoid tractor trailors full of dead bodies waiting to be buried here.

news flash: no one was prepared. The test kits didn’t exist. A new test had to be developed. And the testers had to be produced.

As an example, the army got the test Friday and we don’t have the tester yet. And we ordered a month ago.

you can’t snap your fingers and have everything. And you can’t have millions of tests on the shelf in case.

On what? on exactly what you said in your post. That the travel bans weren't effective. The travel bans weren't meant to stop the virus..it was already here.. it was always coming here. What it did do was buy us time. To slow the spread. Fauci, Gottlieb, Brix have all noted this.

We are starting to catch up quickly now but we were behind everyone for at least a month or more.

As of Mid march the US was last in the entire world in testing per capita, and by a decent margin in a lot of cases, as well as total number of tests performed.

One chart shows how many coronavirus tests per capita have been completed in 8 countries. The US is woefully behind.

Edit - here is data from 2 days ago. Impressive how quickly we are catching up.
How many tests for COVID-19 are being performed around the world?

From Politco:
On Saturday Jan. 11 — a month and a half before the first Covid-19 case not linked to travel was diagnosed in the United States — Chinese scientists posted the genome of the mysterious new virus, and within a week virologists in Berlin had produced the first diagnostic test for the disease.
Soon after, researchers in other nations rolled out their own tests, too, sometimes with different genetic targets. By the end of February, the World Health Organization had shipped tests to nearly 60 countries.
Patty Murray, the ranking Democrat on the Senate health committee, who represents the hard-hit state of Washington, asked in a 3½-page letter on the testing fiasco to Pence, Health Secretary Alex Azar, CDC director Robert Redfield, and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn.
So far, none has been provided.
