Scuderi, you aren't the only lame duck that needs to go! Is it October yet edition!

If someone could insert the charts...

We are so close to a renewing a once great team. As soon as a few key people are gone (cough Scuderi cough Kunitz cough Lovejoy) we will finally be able to reestablish ourselves as a dominant team in the league.

Imagine if Shero's poor decision could be reversed...if only...if only...

About the only thing that could make this a home run off season would be to off load Scuderi and pick up Ehrhoff or Franson.

I'm very curious as to why so many people here have Kunitz in the Top 6 over Plotnikov. Let's do a what if here. What if you signed Kulemin instead of Plotnikov (same contract). Would you feel the same way?

Posts from the last thread.

Nope, I just like speculating and seeing what things would likely look like if we did trade for Staal. I don't think we'll do it and I'm not sure it's what would be the best for the team. I also wouldn't be surprised if the idea of bringing Staal back was to play LW.

I do like the idea of adding one more skilled big guy to the lineup with Sundqvist and Fehr, especially with Fehr being out for a while. I really wanted Chris Stewart for that reason.

Also I think Kunitz plays really well this year and I think that second power play unit will really vendor from having likely him and Bonino in it.

Kunitz-Bonino-Perron
Cole-Pouliot

I think that has a chance to be a lethal unit versing the other teams second PK unit.

If they spend 5 millions on Perron, they deserve to lose.

If there's one thing I hate, its good hockey players.

They're the worst with their doing things well and helping the team.

I hope they can lock Perron up around $4.5M... and then get Boedker around the same; get Maatta for something reasonable. Then party like it's 2009.

Maybe they should spend that on Killorn instead right?

Yeah the common theme with him among Nucks and Ducks fans is that he can really take advantage of lesser matchups. If they roll 4 lines and 2 PP units, I don't see any reason why he can't get around 40 pts.

That's good to hear. Man I haven't been this excited for a hockey season since 1992

and our 3rd line wings probably aren't far off from his 2nd line wings in Vancouver

At least Killorn produces in the playoffs.Perron has 2 goals in 24 playoff games IIRC.

I just can't wait for the season, period. Honestly we're fine without Staal, we have plenty of depth. Play the youth on D unless someone great (Hamhuis, Edler, Gio) could be had for super cheap, or we move Scuds and Ehrhoff will play for a low amount (3 or less).

Part of me wants to see JR keep making moves. The guy's on fire.

Yeah, it's time to get Despres + 1st for Lovejoy.

For global marketability, Morehouse old buddy old pal, Boedker would be great. They'd have players from Canada (Quebecois and Anglos and a trick for Steigy), America, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Denmark. That almost makes up for the loss of Brunei!

There's also something to be said for quitting while you're ahead, a la not stopping at Bortuzzo for Cole.

I am pumped for the season to start! Our forward group is just awesome. Just a lot of good hockey players. We may not have exceptional size or speed, but we're fairly balanced. I don't think adding another bigger hockey player that hits would hurt. It would be exceptional of that player was a top 4D man.

I just am so pumped about power plays, the first unit should be exceptional and the second unit should pose a real threat:

Hornqvist
Crosby Kessel
Letang Malkin

and

Kunitz
Bonino Perron
Cole Pouliot

Seriously if we dump Scuderi I can't imagine anyway this team could realistically be better.....other than going back in time and undoing the despres for lovejoy trade but I think we've already beat this horse dead enough

Apparently Canes fans are open to moving Staal and retaining salary. If Eric doesn't get signed by the deadline, I fully expect JR to be going after him.

How funny would it be to aquire Staal with a 4.4 million cap hit after some salary is retained

Sending him to the minors would be considered a win. However unless he really stinks the place up, I doubt it'll happen.

Mine was there first :(

Was it? But I did check to see if there was one up before making the new one.

Merged them.

Ohhhh, looks like my Kunitz + Scuderi for Staal (half retained) proposal is closer to fruition!!

Because it's probably more realistic unless Perron is on the 3rd line. Realistically, Kunitz will be given a solid chance at playing in that 4th top 6 winger spot well before we start rotating people like Bennett, Plotnikov, Dupuis or whomever into that spot.

And there were Pen fans who would have dumped Sutter for a 2nd. What fans want do not reflect reality.

I think happenstance may have just put all the Staal haters in the same place at the same time, judging by that thread. Either that or there's been a sea change in opinion vis a vis Staal in Carolina since around January. At least one of them is joking as well.

But uh, yeah. I'll happily trade them all those leftovers (Clendening, Jarry, Bennett) to get Staal back.

Karmanos is livid with JR. I'd be shocked if the Canes and Pens make any kind of deals until Karmanos is gone.

I wouldn't call them leftovers, I mean Jarry has the potential to be a goaltender in the NHL, Bennett has shown that he can easily play in the top 9 while injured, he's just 23 btw and Clendening isn't that good defensively and has to work on his skating, but he has great offensive instincts and he's just 22.

Every team in the NHL has guys like these laying around.

It would be great to bring Jordan back in the fold. However, why make a seismic trade when the roster is almost set? Go with the current makeup and make changes at the deadline.

I disagree. With Malkin, success has always been more about "fit" than overall ability. Say he's given Kessell on the RW, we need a gritty puck battler on his LW. It's the reason we loved Malone-Malkin-Sykora, it's why Kunitz-Malkin-Neal worked so well, and it's why we wanted Kulemin so bad even when there were better overall players available.

Plotnikov fits that mold well and given Kunitz's regression, better. If we do not give him that chance, I don't see him panning out TBH. I think this is a very special chance to get a free, cheap asset and have him take off. We don't get those chances very often.

I believe he needs to start the season flanking Geno, regardless of who is on the RW.

I just REALLY wish Hornqvist could play LW. The ideal lines to me are:

Hornqvist-Crosby-Kessel
Perron-Malkin-Plotnikov
Dupuis-Bonino-Fehr
Kunitz-Cullen-Bennett
