I think the last two games should put to bed the Bergeron over Sid narrative right now too. Anyone watching that game can tell why Bergeron is still relevant as a 1C and it ain’t his own play..

Overrated by both. Has done jack shit as a # 1 C and his late career renaissance is because of his line mates not because of some stupid narrative of how he "decided to focus on scoring".

Yeah. Perfect definition of a two way center. Perfect 2C on a championship squad.
Ever since he was promoted to 1C they've failed to make it past the dance. Part of that is injuries, but whatever.

Bergeron is the perfect "third wheel" for a line. He does all the little things that help his more talented linemates do their thing, but he's not going to be nearly as effective if he's gotta be the top guy on the line.
I do think he gets overrated on HF because he seems to get more credit for that line's success than he probably deserves. He's obviously a stud defensively, but I don't think people appreciate how much his offense gets bumped having essentially two line driving wingers capable of 100 points each flanking him.

It isn't, but being a 50 pt guy most of his years adds onto it.
And this goes back to the legacy thing. Krejci was top dog on the championship squad. Not Bergeron. And this wasn't a Malkin / Crosby 1A / 1B situation as much as Bruins fans want to frame it that way.

Well, that simply isn't true. Those are lies spewed out by the uninformed, the ignorant, the agenda driven and the intellectually dishonest. Beyond those two however a debate can be had as far as overall skill and talent among forwards. Lemieux and Gretzky are far and away the top two. There's simply no question. Do not buy a car from these people!

Dude had 93 goals in 190 games in the 3 seasons leading up to this one. All in his 30's. That's on top of putting up elite defensive numbers.
Their PK has been top 5 in the league 4 of the last 5 years, including 1st twice. They're 1st again right now.
Is he getting "carried" there too?
