Nick Schmaltz - 5.85M expires 25/26

Karel Vejmelka - 2.75M expires 24/25

Jason Zucker - 5.3M UFA

Matt Dumba - 3.9M UFA

Alex Kerfoot - 3.5M expires 24/25

Nick Bjugstad - 2.1M 24/25

Travis Dermott - 800k UFA

GMBA is looking to package picks and players for better players. We have plenty of picks, but most will be had for picks which BA can use as capital at the draft.

I've thought Schmaltz would be a decent fit in Washington. They're not afraid to pay the higher actual money, so I think that part would be workable.

@rt proposed a Schmaltz for Fehervary trade and that price made me balk, which means it's probably a fair deal. No idea from the Coyotes' side, though.

Coyotes trade 2024 deadline primer: Limited possibilities

Craig Morgan's article on their value from 4 days ago:

Dumba - 3rd or 2nd if retention
Zucker - mid-round pick
Dermott - basically nothing
Kerfoot - some package that includes a 1st or the Yotes aren't interested
Bjugstad - some package that includes a 1st or the Yotes aren't interested
Vejmelka - some package that includes a 1st or the Yotes aren't interested
Schmaltz - maybe a package with a 1st but probably not happening until summer

So the Coyotes have absolutely no interest in moving Kerfoot, Bjugstad, and Vejmelka?

Sorry but you can't be saying you expect these players to return a 1st+ right?

Dumba and bjugstad to leafs for 1st+ nick Robertson with some retention to make cap work I'd consider

I don't think the Coyotes have much interest in moving Kerfoot, Bjugstad or Vejmelka.

But I also don't think it would be a bad move for a GM to offer a late 1st and a cap dump for AZ's 2nd (currently pick 38) and one of them. They wouldn't be pure rentals.

And when I look at a list like Bob McKenzie's and see the guys listed 25-30 versus guys listed 35-40, I don't see some huge drop off. Dropping back 10-15 picks for 2 playoff runs and a cap dump seems like a reasonable move in this market.

Yeah, Craig ain’t the best at value. To be honest, he isn’t very good at a lot. Glad Arizona has him for his coverage, but…

To get a first we would need to add an additional pick to those players.

Done. Easy. Means TML are overpaying. I guess it depends on how much retention.

I mean, the article opens with GMBA talking about how they have a large volume of picks and the point of that is to give them flexibility to find value.

I can't imagine a deal where a combo of those players gets you a better player. A contender isn't going to give you a top player for 2 middling guys. A team out of it isn't going to deal one of it's few good players for fungible assets.... they'd deal them for picks or prospects.

It's possible there is some team out there willing to do something like this, but I can't think of any logical choices.

I’d imagine these deals will be strictly for picks. Those picks are then turned into nhl players at the draft as oppose to using them to draft.

That’s more or less where I was going with it.

Man Bjugstad with his size and right shot would be a perfect fit on the Kings in place of Lizotte.

Unfortunately Blake has already shed our 2nd and 3rd and said he is not trading his 1st. If a 1st is the ask my dreams are dashed.

What if Arizona retained and added a 2nd? Then does the 1st become an option? Essentially you’re trading down.

Yeah. It’s not realistic.
