If he doesn't waive, I think he gets traded before the expansion. Pretty easy to get rid of him if you retain, and send a pick the other way. Not worried.

But what teams would want him if he is not agreeing to lift his NMC? He has 12 teams no trade, witch mean most bottom feeders who can use him is blocked, and top teams dont want that caphit?

He's worth more to the Avs than what little they'd get in return. He's not blocking anyone on the right side. If anything, the Avs are short RHD.

That's where you trade your 1st round pick if needed. There are teams who will have space to keep him, and are looking for picks/prospects. He's still a plus defenseman at this point in his career, and his cap hit isn't absurd. If you retained 50% (not ideal), he'd only be making $3.0mil.
