Not a chance I'd give up Joulevi for a 2nd/3rd. He has been very good when healthy, I expect him to make an impact with the Canucks next season.

His stock has risen a little, I'm happy hoping the asset we have pans out, but as recently as the deadline people were commenting he's not worth anything. His still a lottery ticket for us though, and not worth giving up cheaply.

Andersson looked pretty good when he went back to the SHL this year, he’s also good friends and has chemistry with Pettersson. I know Virtanen is definitely gone this offseason, I’m pretty sure I heard some Canucks source saying Virtanen’s only worth a 5th rounder. (Which sounded low to me)
What could work around Andersson for Virtanen? Rangers add a pick? Or one of our defensive prospects?

Not sure why people still bring up certain players' friendships and prior chemistry with Pete as a reason to acquire them, when otherwise they have personal problems (Jonathan Dahlen, who Vancouver acquired from Ottawa, comes to mind. Vancouver traded for him for his SHL chemistry with Pete but traded him away due to attitude problems). Benning doesn't like players with diva attitudes and no buy-in. Andersson's WJC rep precedes him.

Re: the topic, does NYR have any right-handed/ right-side two-way D-men with some size available, preferably on ELC? Team would like to find Hughes a long-term partner or dump cap, and Jake can be a sweetener in option B.

Would you guys do K'Andre Miller for Jake? Can he play right-side?

Miller plays the left side and will probably be a year away from making the NHL - We have Staal, Smith (last year for both) Lindgren, and Hajek. And our right side is Trouba, Fox, and DeAngelo. The prospect who may take the next spot for the right side is Lundkvist, who will not be playing in the NHL next year.

And no, we would absolutely not trade Miller for Jake Virtanen

No one currently available fits underline description.
closest fit is Hajek, who is a lefty shot, but can play right side.

Good long term partner to consider is Deangelo.
Prob only 4.5 for next year/2. Thereafter you have to pay him market but what's to complain about if he's producing?

Fair enough haha, what would be the asking price for him? Seems like NYR would just want futures too? Or is there some particular roster need

Interesting, thanks for the info. Some other sites list Hajek as a project though, big guy who struggled to find a fit on the blue-line? Could still warrant a pickup as part of a package for Virtanen though (Hajek and 2nd or 3rd)?

the truth on Hajek.
he was key piece in a major deal.
looked like all that and a bag of chips 5 games, full 2 way guy.
then had shoulder separation, which is not an issue.
they mishandled him going forward,
he had a knee injury of some kind [not super critical]
is ready

expect he can be very productive with the right partner.
chemistry is a fragile thing.

they put him w/Trouba which you would think would be good, but Trouba often struggled.
Trouba struggled w/Skeji, who looked better in Canes' system.

So it is not a lights out given as to what you are getting, but there is upside and he is a decent reward-risk investment.

Need to mull all alternatives, will consider your best offer soon.

best
