Actually makes sense. They need players on low contracts to put out a roster. because of some issues (that are too long to explain), they can't really use rookie ELCs, they absolutely need guys who can play NHL minutes for the absolute minimum.

I hate Jack Johnson, but he seemed to have a good impact on Marcus Pettersson and Marino in terms of “adjusting them” to NHL play as his partner, not necessarily by his play.

Seems like a good locker room guy as well.
