If the NYI are bad in a few years, it isn't going to be because they gave 4th liners long deals. It will be due to the fact that they do not have much in the way of prospects.

Czikas is not a normal 4th liner. NYI don't hesitate to put him out in any situation. He is fast, smart, and is one of the reasons that NYI consistently overachieves as a team.

There are lots of teams that have had more than 2.5 million in buyouts for multiple years. I’m pretty sure that Islanders will be fine giving term to a loyal player that happens to be the best 4th line centre in the league.

I pray this is true. Under 3AAV is a huge win. Cizikas is a great 4C and elite penalty killer. I did not want to pay a 4c $3mil+ as much as I love Zeeker.
