I thought Bratt did some really good things on the defensive side of the puck in this one. Seemed like he really keyed in on breaking up MacKinnon once the game got close. Couple times his back pressure disrupted him and even on one of the final shifts it looked like he was almost shadowing him in the DZ. Had some jump offensively too - thought he was the only guy really going at all on that line.
Don't tell that to xigon.

He thinks Bratt leaving Nico's line, made that line better and when he left Jack's line, his line got better. Good grief, man.

I'm fine with Hughes not scoring tonight but he did look a bit off, it happens though. Scoring 14 goals and our superstar only had a hand in two of those goals himself, it's the depth we've been craving for.

I agree about Jack. I’m not concerned with his scoring. It’s more that he doesn’t look like himself. Hopefully, it’s not an injury. Avs maybe just keyed on him and played him tight. We’ll see.

Damn didn’t know Tatar had such a great plus minus. He is a very smart player, reminds me of Patrick Elias with a little less skill.

He is a must resign in the offseason, just one of those underrated guys that could help us in a cup run.

Honestly the team needs to push for the first place in the Metro. I’d much rather play an easy first round against the Pens/Islanders over a blood bath versus the Rangers with the Canes right after that. Get first, we are catching up to the Canes now…

Best GF% in the league at an absurd 76%. My GOAT

My thoughts on the game :

Holy sh*t.

Also : Bad Vitek. Bad! *finger wagging*

Schmid to the rescue.

DAWG-son Mercer.

A Sexy tic-tac-toe Goal for Tatar that rivaled the one Bratt had in another game

MacKinnon is fast as hell....Scary player.....Bratt did a tremendous job the times where he tried defending him.

Wood scored? Something about blind squirrels and nuts.....

Anyway, great win with our Top Goaltender having an off night.

AND with Vegas beating the Canes in regulation, we are in a very good position.

I felt bad for Vitek when they zoomed in on him during the broadcast in the 3rd. You know he was beating himself up for this one.

He’s been a revelation for us this year, he’s allowed a stinker against the defending champs who are on a tear of their own. He was due for a time where the boys picked him up for a change.

I’m more than comfortable giving Schmid more starts down the stretch.

I mean, i dont know if Bratt is the reason for that (unlikely he is), but what @xigon said is what i mentally observed as well.

Could be purely coincidental but I had a similar thought come to mind a few games ago, to be honest.

Timo is coming in, so none of this matters because all the equations will be different again.

It's absolutely coincidental.

Come on, man.

Bratt and Hughes together have been dynamite this year.

This game, Jack doesn't show up on the scoresheet (Bratt does, AND plays some sound defense)

xigon is just trying to stir crap up.

Where did the "dawg" thing come from for Mercer?
I think it started with Filipovic. On a PDOCast a few weeks ago he talked about how he had a dream where in the dream he said “Mercer has that dawg in him”

Sign of expression

Usually means the player is mentally tough, hard to play against just think of an old school junkyard dog whose gonna get after you if you come in the property and isn’t gonna stop until he accomplishes what he needs

He absolutely deserves more starts…however, I think you have to go back to Vitek on Friday. He’s earned a pass for a stinker of a game here and there. Just gotta get him right back out and not allow him to dwell on it.

Who are Bratt's optimal line mates? Mercer and Johnson?

I personally think Bratt plays much better with Hughes than Nico. I think they should put timo with Hughes and Bratt.

It'll give Bratt 2 pass options. Both have stellar ability to get goals (Meier and Jack). It will also allow Hughes to be used as a potential dangerous decoy and give it to Meier, or make the plays himself as he has done all year.
