Embarrassing showing our local high first round pick 0 ice time in the first period of the home opener. Stapled to the end of the bench.
Huh? He was clearly visible from section 9 for 3 or 4 shifts.
Very smart and exactly what Butler said he was going to do with him.

Yes was taking close to a regular shift prior to penalty troubles. Liked what I saw.

Propp will keep us in and win us a lot of games this year. Really liked Peters tonight! Great hustle, looked like a second year player. Also thought the young d corps did well in keeping it simple although the breakout passes needed some work - especially in the third period when the pressure was on. Unfortunate for Caines, will likely not be back for a bit, hopefully not a major concussion... im not sure what his injury history is.
Bingo. That was my take exactly, Peters and Caines were great and the young D was respectful, can't imagine what it would have looked like without Cameron.
Telling point re: Peters is he was on the ice with a 2 goal lead and less than 2 minutes to play.
Good job by our scouts on that one.
Some random thoughts from last night:
SpezzaNLDP and Sec.9 nailed the lineup, as in drop Baker (and RF9 as well, as it turned out) and go with an 11F/7D combo rather than the more customary 12/6. It will be interesting to see if coach retains this approach.
Wonder what the story is on import E. Postnov. Seems to me that a committed and signed import is usually a regular, injury maybe?
Att. 3129, while not spectacular, was decent and broke off an ugly 4 year trend of Opener declines. The last couple of years Game 1 has been the largest of the season, hopefully the drop off won't be too steep.
Cam Peters might be a 2nd liner by the end of the season.
Tough situation for Harrison Caines, wonder who will draw into the lineup tonight and in the days and weeks to come.
While giving up 5, CP33 was a difference maker.
Whether it was Troops' D-group or 'dogs' superior forward skill, the amount of time spent in the NB end (especially in the 3rd) was a little unsettling and reminiscent of the last 2 seasons.
Real nice touch having Scollard Hall marching band in the house for the anthem and the entertainment in the 2nd intermission.
All lit up advertising panels were sold, no Battalion logos on 4 of them like last season, and new advertiser, Bavarian Meats on ice, maybe the marketing geniuses had a solid off-season. There is still a long way to go but this might be a start.

Personally I think Walker was stellar last night... He was all over the ice, hitting anything that moved, Scored a goal and went +2... Peters looked like a veteran and scored his first OHL career goal... Love that Adam McMaster really stepped it up a notch last night too! 2 goals , 1 assist & +2 ... hope he keeps it up!
What a treat to finally watch a fast paced game, no neutral zone trapping. Thought #29, #7 and #3 played well. Also thought #18 'puck-pigged' it on the empty netter...coulda gave it to the captain!!
I'm sure the coach will suck all the offensive skill out of this group and instill the 2-1 / 3-2 trap game soon enuf.
Would have liked to see/hear mention of Burghardt in the player intros. Maybe something is planned later.
Overall I really enjoyed the tempo of game #1.

Well, tonight Rose was - 5 in the Soo , the young D are not ready for the West div teams yet
I was thinking last night that Rose and his #7 kind of reminded me of Miles Liberati.
