SERIES NOTES

  • Oshawa looking to avenge last season's Eastern Conference Final upset to the Battalion where they were defeated 3-2 in Game 4 at the Memorial Gardens to cap the Battalion sweep.
  • Oshawa looks to have a far deeper team than last season's.
The Gens have 6 players above a PPG in the regular season compared to the 3 they iced last spring.
  • The Gens also scored the third most goals in the OHL this season while giving up the league's fewest GA for a team.
  • The seventh man may very well be the decider of this series.
A true David vs. Goliath series.

I haven't had the opportunity to see much of the training camp or pre-season. If anyone has seen anything interesting, especially from some of the newer players, please discuss.

Re: Vincent Praplan

While this doesn't exactly concern the current season, you might be interested. TSN's SportsCentre has been featuring former Battalion player Vincent Praplan on their 1v1 segment. Have a look at their website for a pretty amazing goal.

Maybe it does concern this season. Why isn't Vincent here, does anyone know?

Praplan signed a deal with his home country. He would have taken up an import and OA slot with North Bay.

Not sure it was intended, but coach didn't sound too enthused about Bruce.

Fans in North Bay should get used to Ottawa natives on the Battalion.
Brampton had a TON of players from the Ottawa area over the years. Several who key cogs in the lineup as well.

Two undrafted Battalion players receive invites to NHL rookie camps.

Marcus McIvor to Columbus.
Zach Bratina to Toronto.

Congrats.

Kyle Moore was sent down to the Voodoos, he will help that team and help his development.

Hope Cormier can pick his game up or he'll be heading there too. He's still young but the question is has he developed enough to play at this level. I guess time will tell or you'll be seeing Stan looking for another backup. Smitty will be getting the bulk of the duties anyway this year, lets just hope he doesn't get hurt.

Nice part about Cormier is Stan can nurse him along and while Smith gets the bulk of the load as you said. I think he will be fine he is so quick with great legs.

Liberati returns to North Bay

Didn't look impressive in the Rookie tournament in Penticton. Hopefully he can improve his poise with the puck in North Bay. Sucks that he won't be attending Vancouver's main camp.

Austin Eastman
This player impressed me last year at the main camp but was eventually cut. Was he back this year? Did anyone see him and what is his current status?
