Makes sense thought it would happen sooner. I mean he could have learned in Laval playing with some potential future teammates with the Habs down the road but whatever.

Can't blame him. Ducharme likely isn't going anywhere this season, but its looking pretty unlikely he'll be back next season.

He could have played in a great venue in Laval with future teammates and possibly gone on a long playoff run on a smaller ice surface and elected to run home.
Says alot about his priorities.
No, the only thing this says anything about is your priorities. Only losers settle for playing in the AHL.

I think he will have to re-start to adapt to the North American ice and playing style all over again next year instead of sticking around and having about 50 or so games under his belt and already having that experience.

I'm not fully against him going back. But I think the best move would've been to keep him in Laval.

That's how it should be. Yet...don't be surprised to witness another Nygren story.
Like I said in the other thread, Nygren was someone who had left his hometown for the first time in his life, stuck in Hamilton suffering from homesickness. There is absolutely no indication beyond the overly vivid imaginations of some posters here to suggest anything remotely similar to that would be the case for Norlinder.

The article where Norlinder said he would prefer to go back to Frölunda this season also contained quotes where he mentioned how much he liked playing in Montreal, but judging by how you all talk it seems nobody in the North American media has bothered translating that part.

That's what I'm afraid of. That he is too comfortable in Sweden and would rather stay there than come here.
Wasn't Nygren's issue with NA playing in Hamilton and having his rims/tires stolen and his brother assaulted/mugged or whatever? I still wonder what could have been. He had good stats in the AHL.

Yeah, the whole Nygren situation was a mix of someone who had never lived outside of his hometown before suffering homesickness and Hamilton not making a particularly positive impression.

Nygren was also a much more marginal prospect than Norlinder is. If he had made the NHL it would have been as a bottom-pairing slapshot specialist, Norlinder has higher potential than that, which means everyone involved has more incentive to give things more time.

who says he can't come back after the end of the SHL season??

I see a scenario where he finishes his season in Sweden and then comes over to Laval for their playoff push
