This is a double-edged sword for Habs fans.

On one side, we get younger, more cap space, a solid D.
But then... we might get better, we might lose out on the Bedard sweepstakes...

Who am I kidding? Where do we sign? :D

Gallagher too high of cap hit, too many years, also teams tend to target centers inside of wingers with higher-end D, often but obviously not always.

This Oiler fan here approves of this deal on Calgary’s behalf.

Honestly this is horrible and if Hanifin is moved it’s not for a cap dump.

Brendan's game fits Sutter's system perfectly. Just 4 seasons ago he had back to back 30+ goal campaigns. I think he's got a lot of gas left in the tank and could get back to being a 30 goal scorer.

Only 4 seasons ago…

4 seasons ago Monahan was on his way to be a 40 goal scorer

Today Monahan was a cap dump. Gallagher is worse. You have to throw in the Habs unprotected 1st to get Hanifin if you include Gallagher

If a Habs fan started this thread is locked.

A flame fans starting this thread is concerning

Such a shit deal for the flames
My bet is he went with Monahan, not a Flames fan anymore based on his latest posts/proposals

Do both sides do it? Habs may need to throw in a pick just because Hanafin is on a very good cap for what he brings.

With Weegar and Kylington signed I think Hanifin is the guy who gets traded this season.
Sounds good to me! I'd imagine a 5th-round pick in 2025 would be enough of an add for the Flames and their fans to LOVE this deal!!!

Are the Habs adding a 2023 unprot first? Risky. But it would cost at least that. I’d advise against it. But flames dont touch this trash offer otherwise.

I’m not a fan of Hanifin in any way but that Gallagher contract is brutal.

As an Oiler fan, I like this deal!
