Domingue and Hutchinson are both on waivers today. Both guys are only AHL worthy guys. But each could be pressed to start a couple NHL games in a pinch without it being an automatic loss.

Claim one. Problem solved.

They'd need to be sent through waivers again to get them to the AHL, so NYR/VGK would probably reclaim them and stash them in their own AHL team.

5th or 6th round for a 3rd goalie or just sign one for free 50/50 chance the Avs regret letting Kuemper go Francouz gets hurt and Georgiev doesn't bounce back.

A fairly simple solution would be to sign Michael Houser to an NHL deal and let him be your number 3. It's baffling to me that he just keeps getting AHL deals.

Would Anaheim move Stolarz for a B prospect or someone that is running out of waiver exemption like Martin Kaut?

This also allows ANA to see what Dostal can do in a backup role

Edit: immediately realized that COL would have to find a way to get him to the AHL and likely loses him on waivers so maybe not a great idea haha

Avs #3 is, will be and should be Annunen. period. #4? who cares? roll with Miner and that AHL contract guy. they are as bad as JJ, so nothing changes really.

actually, there is a change: the Utah Grizzlies became stronger now, since they wont have Miner playing for them.
Did you watch any Grizzlies games? He was good for the Grizz last year.

Winning the Cup sucks. You can’t make any of the HF favourite moves like waiver pick ups and trading for or holding onto high draft picks and futures.

It's currently looking like Kaut is going to make the Avs roster. He's had a good camp and is playing with some confidence in the Avs top 4 lines in practice.

Avs can just do what they did last year and start the season slow so they can be at the top of the waiver order by early November to make their waiver claims, like NAK last year.

Like others mentioned, if someone is desperate for a second/tandem AHL goalie, Rick Dipietro might be worth looking at. He's also made it known that he'd appreciate an opportunity elsewhere. He's not that far removed from being a pretty highly touted goaltending prospect, but his develop has been absolutely derailed. Between Vancouver keeping him on the Taxi Squad instead of letting him get developmental games in at the AHL level, and injuries...he's basically lost two seasons of development at this point. Who really knows what you're getting, but there's talent there, and he really just needs to play to see if there's still anything there.

Would also surely come cheap. He doesn't really have any particular value, and Vancouver seem to have sorta moved on. He's an "old regime" holdover, and Silovs seems to have surpassed him as the "development goalie du jour" (much bigger, fits the profile of a Clarke guy, etc.).

A late pick, sorta similarly derailed or longshot sort of prospect would probably do it.

I hate to break it to you, but Rick DiPietro is 41, retired, and hasn't been a pretty highly touted goaltending prospect in 20 years.

The DiPietro you're talking about is Michael.

Derp. Was focusing so hard trying not to write Rick that i ended up doing it.

To be fair though, in payroll terms, Rick is still kind of hanging around.

Wow, he's still on the books until 2029? I need that kind of severance package.

Fortunately for the Islanders, it's just money and not cap space.
