You have to think when Lou steps down these policies will change. There's no need for them and in a time when things like twitter and other media interaction with players is growing, it makes no sense at all and hurts them business wise.

Its going to be like the fall of the Soviet Union where we discover all these new things that we never had, once Lou goes.

It's the NHL's cruel way of giving us the finger because Lou is being a control freak and demanding "his way" for what should have been a great marketing tool for the team.. And really it's a gift the League even gave us this game

Let's be real here :

The RAGS got the game.

The Devils just happen to be their opponent that day. :shakehead

It could've been any team. Just one friggin' coincidence.

honestly if i was a player i'd like the idea of a closed off, isolated locker-room. come to the rink and do your damn job and not have to worry about 8 ******** with cameras and boom mics following you around

Is there even any evidence that the lack of exposure in the first episode had anything to do with Lou? Or are we just making that assumption so we can continue to rail against him since that's the cool thing to do now? What's the excuse for the complete lack of Rangers coverage? Rational thinking people...

Agree Rag's got the game, but I think it's fair to say that we were intentionally picked as the coat riding opponent.

The Rangers, Kings, Penguins, and Blackhawks are in the next episode.. Kinda obvious one there.... I'm not assuming the lack of team exposure is Lou's doing based on the fact that a lot of people have been complaining about Lou and the team, it's because he has a long track record of stuff like this so that one is pretty obvious too.. He also mention to Gulitti that he was meeting with the League/NBC to discuss what would be on the show

Personally, I was looking forward to seeing deeper into the team.. I mean I follow them so damn much from the outside that it would be cool to see what it's like on the inside.. I don't think it's unreasonable to be disappointed about that when it's probably the only opportunity for it

The Devils coverage was not done well by the show's producers.

The game highlights were not crisp and made it seem like they were lucky to squeak out a win.

1994 has nothing to do with this outdoor game.
But if they want to bring it up they also failed to mention that Marty has beaten NYR in two playoff series since including as recent as 2012 in the ECF.

He's also won 3 Cups since and made 5 Finals.

No interview or comments from Jagr?

We know Marty's son Anthony met up with Marty after the Montreal game, no footage of that? Would have been a cool moment.

I turned it off as soon as the Devils segment was over.

Well....considering that they were obsessed with playing "1994" over and over again, I would agree. :help:

I wish I was part of the production team during filming. When they bring up the idea to use 1994, I would've given them a tape/dvd recording of "Henrique!!! It's Over!!" in response to remind them that *this* is the latest key-moment in Devils/Rags history.

But of course, the NHL doesn't want to hear that. They want to believe that one of their "ORIGINAL SIX" Pets are better than this franchise and have never lost to us.

Not saying we shouldn't be disappointed. My point is that putting the blame on Lou is pure speculation yet some people are bashing him as if it's fact. It's clear they did a poor job of covering the team in all aspects not just "behind the scenes".

Jagr only appeared in a very short segment(part of an interview that we've seen and heard before) during the intro and that's it.

Well I messed up recording of this. No idea the Blackhawks/Red Wings game would go that late.

Actually, you didn't miss much.

The Marty segment was *underwhelming* to say the least.

You'd think that one of the greatest goaltenders of all-time would get a lengthy more in-depth segment on TV but no. Apparently, he's just as important as one of the current players who haven't accomplished as much as he has. :shakehead

Even though the part with his family was fine, I felt it was a bit RUSHED, IMO. As if the NHL didn't even want anything remotely associated with the Devils to be on TV or something.....

Fair point. I just think with Lou's strong track record of keeping his players in a bubble, and the fact that he openly admitted to having met with the NHL/NBC on what exactly would be aired, it's not too crazy to infer that he asked them to not film the locker room, not film much of the practice, and not mic up the players during a game.. I mean, they did at least 2 of those for every other team on the show so far and the point is to give fans more access.. All we got was an interview-type line from Jagr and a fluff piece on Brodeur's family in Montreal

Thought the show was fine, although I got a slight headache from the Michael Bay-esque fear of having a continuous shot for more than 2 seconds. They tried to cram in every outdoor team (including Vancouver/Ottawa) participating into a 44 minute show, so I would expect a lot hitting the cutting room floor.

I suppose I would have left Pittsburgh/Chicago and Vancouver/Ottawa out and left that for an episode closer to their games in March.

If anything, it made me miss the days of the weekly NHL Cool Shots program.

Hmm...the entire show was rushed, not just Brodeur's part. In fact, Marty's part lasted from one commercial break to the next which was good considering that so many segments were cut in with various players.
The complaining seems a bit much here. The 1994 part was ridiculous, other than that it was fine to me. Nothing special, but not as bad as what's being described here. Karlsson's part was the most set up and probably the stupidest part of the show.

Brodeur's overall segment was in dedication to his father...I'm sure Marty appreciates that they focused on someone he cares so much about.

Whoopty-do.

This program was hyped to the max and FAILED to deliver.

Maybe it'll get better in the coming episodes but last night I was NOT impressed.

Yes, I'm complaining. Waah Waah Waah!

So what?

I felt they could've done more with Marty's segment than they did.

Is that so wrong?

And yeah....the show didn't live up to what those who hyped it(because it was hyped).

what more could they done? the show is dedicated to 9 teams. They couldn't even fit the Rangers in, and apparently the Rangers get "everything"

seriously...

it's a joke how our fans still complain about things like this when it would have never ever happened years ago. All this thread is filled of complaints, meanwhile Brodeur talked about his deceased father the entire time and how much he cared for him.

I never complained about the "content" of Marty's segment if that's what you're alluding to.

But anyway, you don't like Devils fans complaining. Tough.

We complain here because we need something to talk about. It's the way it is. :sarcasm:

If we all agreed on something continuously, there wouldn't be much of a discussion then.

(hmmm....maybe you're right that at times people complain just to complain.....)

The point is this was a nice piece done on his father, but by reading this thread you would never know that because it's a constant ***** fest about "the production" "no locker room time" "lou sucks" "lou won't let them see deboer's great coaching" blah blah blah.

I complain about the team sucking, not about some ****** television show.

I agree....a lot of *****ing going on around here...

As a HOCKEY fan, I enjoyed the whole thing. I liked seeing other players and teams. Probably helped that I do fantasy hockey and pay more attention to other teams too.
