Per @glefrancoisLP, #Habs have been in talks w/ Manny Malhotra's agent the last few days. Another name to add to 4th line centre radar.

that would be a terrific pickup.....easily top 10 face off men in the league...solid 4th liner...6'2 and i think he can still give about 10 goals....probly comec very cheap.

How has his eye been holding up? I know his vision will never be 20/20 again.

Starting to believe that we're going for 3 guys today.....Vrbata/Malhotra/Robidas. Not exactly pure grit....but they all fill some kind of a need.

If it's true that Robidas is looking for a 2-3 year deal, Bergy better stay as far away as possible..

If we trade Moen, Gorges and Budaj plus recall Tokarski we will have:

24 million in cap space to:
Re-sign PK Subban
Re-sign Lars Eller.
Acquire a 4th line center.
Acquire a top 6 RW.
Acquire a 7th D (if we don't go Pateryn or Nygren)
Acquire a top 4 RD.

I don't think that's enough space unless we go cheap on one of those spots.

@EricEngels: Radim Vrbata, 33, was looking for 3-4 years at $4-4.5M from Arizona, hence they moved on... Will he get that from someone today?

Nooooo.

Jay McClement is so much better and will likely cost the same.

Ehrhoff and Fayne we should look at for d. I imagine both will be overpaid by a fair amount.

Maybe McClement wants longer term which isn't wise for bottom 6ers.

I'd take him on a 3 year term for 4 - 4.5 that's not an unreasonable contract on free agency.

Again, not a perfect UFA lineup, but just what I think will happen. No idea why we let go Weaver. Weaver is to Bergevin what Dominic Moore was to Gauthier. A bad decision. I have no idea why we are so much trouble signing guys that are doing a great job. Can't wait to see how incredibly high Weaver's salary was....and what we will sign instead....I'm already predicting that we won't like it and will say a couple of WTF.

And the other question is, we seem to go out of our way to add toughness at the draft. And yet...we could end up with that trio? Kind of contradicting themselves. Having said that, I think that the biggest need of that trio might actually be Malhotra. Vrbata is fine....but at what price? Guy is 33 already. And Robidas wouldn't be a choice for me. But he moves the puck well.

Would much rather Boyle over Robidas. Same age, Boyle will cost more but he still has more left to his game... Yes he will cost more, but hey atleast he won't get preferential treatment from MT. Robidas would steal ice time from Beaulieu and Tinordi every time they take a penalty or give up a puck.

I may be in the minority, but an ideal day for me would be Iginla, Dan Boyle and Moore in...Gionta and Bouillon out.

Oh and Gorges for Gardiner. :D

3 years for McClement is well worth it.

Even at that, it's risk for him.

What speed ? At best, they're equal. Though, Malhotra seems to be better on the draw.

You're not going to find a top 6 RWer than cheap on the market. The only other option is gamble on Havlat.

Vrbata and Malholtra would be amazing.

Vrbata to play with fellow Czech Plekanec, Malholtra to give us that 4th line face off specialist we've needed for years now

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Parenteau
Bourque-Plekanec-Vrbata
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher
Prust-Malholtra-Weise
