So Pettersson from the Canucks takes 16th spot after a very dominating playoffs where he led his team to two seriesvictories and a game away from the conference finals. Over PPG, and only 21. What a future he has. Anyways 17 is next with tons a high end talent still to choose from. Who ya got?

This should be stone. Aho isn't nearly as good on D as Stone is, even if he plays center.

Best player on a top 3 or 4 team in the league should have already gone

Aho is a real play driver and gets under rated sometimes.

Yes but stone is an even better play driver on both ends

I think they drive play on a pretty equal basis, I just think that Aho is still climbing the ladder and getting better and Stone is what he is.

But just like last round there are 5 or 6 really good choices still left on the board here.

I voted for Bergeron and I don't really know why anyone would pick Stone over him. For the most part their production has been the same for their careers (55-65 points roughly every season). Stone is a noted defensive gem. Bergeron is probably better, imo. Then when you consider the defensive impact the center can have compared to any winger, and that's not really a comparison anymore if you ask me.

Stone is a great player. Bergeron just does everything Stone does, and does it from the more valuable and impactful position. Plus Bergeron had that wacky 80 point season recently that is way better than anything Stone has done.

Bergeron -> Stone/Rantanen

The next five should be, in any order:
Aho
Stone
Bergeron
Couturier
Rantanen

I went Aho. Those middle three guys are all two way beasts which is why guys like Marner and Rantanen should be ranked after them. Too many seem to just vote based on offensive points.

Malkin, Matthews, Marchand, Kane, Pastrnak, Ovechkin.

Absolutely not a chance he’s currently better than any of those players right now. He could and probably will rise of the standings this season, but he’s not established enough to warrant being placed over those players.

Father Time is surely going to slow down guys like Malkin, Ovechkin, Marchand, and Kane soon, and combined with Pettersson’s continued development it could certainly happen next season.

As for Pastrnak and Matthews - the former just had a monster season where he outscored Pettersson by nearly 30 points, and the latter also had a huge 47 goal season - and both have a longer track record. For what it’s worth I think EP will be right there with them very soon.

Malkin, Matthews, Marchand, Kane, Pastrnak, Ovechkin.

Last season:

1.34 ppg
.97 ppg

I would get it if you were talking about who you want for the future. But Malkin is the better player, there is no doubt about it. That is a substantial difference in production.
