Same goes for folks complimenting his draft skills. That’s all I’m saying. Can’t have it both ways.

To me, "liking" or "disliking" picks in the immediate aftermath of the picks is more along the lines of "I agree with the pick" or "I disagree with the pick". It's "I wouldn't have picked him, therefore it's a bad pick" mentality.

No one knows what we truly have right now. Some picks will hit, some will miss. Good teams hit on late picks. We haven't in a while.....except for maybe Olofsson.

A 3rd pick is decidedly not a "high pick" to me. That's square in the middle rounds, where NHL teams start to see LARGE variances in lists. I'm sure Portillo was far lower on some teams boards. But I'd also be amazed if we were the only team to rate him so highly.

Once the draft gets into this area, it's truly a crapshoot.

The fact he didn't even go to Vancouver seems to indicate that he wasn't even sure he would be drafted at all.

According to eliteprospects, he's scheduled for Minn in 20-21. Looks like it's Fargo of the USHL next year.

That's what EliteProspects indicates, although I wouldn't take that as gospel.
