I don't think their mock drafts are all that good usually. They're quite poor actually. Mock drafts are usually wrong, futile exercises in general, but it's more about the logic behind them, and their mocks can be suspect in that department. I know that every single year they have us taking the Crouse/Jones type. So, I pretty much ignore them

Like you say, the NHL.com ones are usually crap. But I think in the past mynhldraft gave a good idea of what to expect. For example, in 2015 they had us taking Provy at 7 after NJ took Zacha at 6.

Last year they had us take Jones at 18, but that was after Rubtsov went to Detroit at 16. Interestingly, they had DeBrincat and Laberge as late 1st rounders.

None of the three -- Kimmelman, Morreale, and Lepage -- have Erik Brannstrom going in the first round.

That would be utter INSANITY. I don't care if the Flyers have strong defensive prospect depth, if he falls like that I'd be trying to trade up like crazy to snag him. You don't let a talent like that slip, especially in this draft.

mynhldraft have him going to Toronto at 17, which seems way more likely than him slipping out of the first round.

Laberge's write-up here reminds me that he isn't someone we should sleep on just because his draft+1 season was ruined by a thug.

We should watch him closely this season to see if he can not only bounce back to his draft year, but surpass it.

He wasn't really playing well before it though. It is what it is he still has another year in juniors & already has a contract so he'll get chances to turn it around. When you got a guy of his caliber & high draft pick though you don't really like having a year essentially tossed away.

Is there an example of someone who did poorly at combine and went on to be a bust?

I mean, considering most players go on to bust in general, there's plenty of such players.

There are also no shortage of players who did incredibly well and went on to bust, as well as players who did poorly and went on to succeed.

In a simulation
Mock drafts are for entertainment purposes, they are meant to be fun. Way too much over thinking going into analyzing the importance or relevance of them.

The hit happened on Victoriaville's 9th game of the season. Laberge missed the first 2 games so he had 2 goals, 2 assists in 6 1/2 games before taking the hit. Not enough games to really say "he wasn't playing well." He was the 2nd star in one of the games as well.

According to this TSN post :
http://www.bardown.com/devils-test-...y-deal-for-becoming-1st-overall-pick-1.770744
The Sports Psychologist who did the interview questions for the Devils proposed to Hischier that "If you throw a catfish on the ice, we will pick you first." To which he responded at the end of the interview "Where can I buy a catfish?"
I guess all the combine prospects will be at Game 4 tonight.
So if Hischier doesn't throw a catfish on the ice obviously he wants to play for Philly.

Haha. What a weird question/proposal. I wonder what response they were actually looking for.

Both Patrick and Hischier bought colourful wristbands and threw them on the ice. Thus, they both want to be Flyers.

I like Allison's write up, projected at #61.

http://www.mynhldraft.com/2016/NHL-Draft-Profiles/Wade-Allison

Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News - May 3rd, 2016 - "And when Allison is confident, he’s hard to stop. A small-town Manitoba farm boy, Allison grew up around cattle and crops and strength is a big part of his game now.

“I’m a power forward,†he said. “I take the puck to the net and take the body. I try to make the other team’s ‘D’ not want to go back to get the puck.

Listening To the recent BSH podcast and they said being able to do a pull-up doesn't matter for hockey.:help:

I don't care what sport you play. If you can't do ONE pull-up you shouldn't be a pro athlete.

There is no chance Phil cannot do one single pull up

Does this look like the face of a man who can do a pull-up?
