Offseason 2022
Pre-Draft
- The Montreal Canadian won the lottery and will pick 1st overall. They had the 4th best odds at picking 1st.
Draft
- The 1st overall pick was Shane Wright.
KH: ''Obviously this changes the picture for us, we now have a one two punch of Suzuki-Wright. If we can find ways to develop them and have them in the best situation as possible, the reset could be faster than we expected.''
Kent Hughes made two trades during the draft.
- On friday night, after the 1st round. Jeff Petry whish was made reality. Montreal Canadians sent Jeff Petry and a 2022 6th to the Detroit Red Wings for Troy Stetcher's rights, 3rd 2022 and 3rd 2023. Stetcher signed a 2X3.01 millions deal right after the deal was sent to the NHL.
- On Saturday morning, the Montreal Canadian sent a late 3rd round pick to Washington for Lucas Johansen.
The rest of the Draft was pretty uneventful with Montreal adding talents in every position possible.
Pre July 1st
- No big contract, basically veterans from Laval were brought back and RFA signed their qualifying offer. Romanov signed a one year, bridge deal and Cayden Primeau signed for 2 years a 1.1 millions, He's expected to be Laval starter this year and be in Montreal next year, as a backup.
- Something was brewing in Montreal since Carey Price told Owner Geoff Molson he didn't want to play for Montreal anymore. Kent Hughes knows moving this contract will be a tough task but it will help in the culture change.
July 1st
- Kent Hughes woke up on july 1st knowing he needed to add a puck moving RD to play in the top 4, move Mike Hoffman since he didn't want to be appart of the retool, adding a bottom 6 winger and veterans to help the kids in Laval and finally, he knew he had to move CP31 before the start of the season.
-
July 1st 11AM: ''Montreal Canadian have acquired Brandon Montour from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Mike Hoffman. Montreal will retain around 1M$ on Hoffman's contract.'' - Elliot Friemdan, Sportsnet.
''It's a move that makes a lot of sense for Montreal, we knew they didn't want to invest to get that puck moving RD and they needed to move Mike Hoffman who was just a bad fit for the organization.'' - Eric Engels, Sportsnet.
-
July 1st 12:35:
