Excited to see what they do with prospects like McEichel and Marner. Hope they fix alot of the drafting though. Marner half the time went at the end of the 1st round and guys like Yan would be elite?
All I'll add is thank god player editing is back.
They gave the Leafs a good rating bump so the team would still be playable. Lets be honest, the Leafs actually look like a decent team according to EA.
They've been saying for a while that they had individual talent but didn't play as a team

Their actually a lot better in the game. Their OA ratings are within ranges of teams such as LA, Tampa, and STL, no joke.
Leafs OFF 90, DEF 91, GOA 87
Kings OFF 89, DEF 91, GOA 94
Lightning OFF 92, DEF 92, GOA 88
Blues OFF 92?, DEF 92?, GOA 87
Still have no idea how EA calculates team OA.
So GM trailer came out and they decided to use Toronto as an example. They released their ratings so I decided to share some of them.

That's all I saw, correct me if I got a couple of ratings wrong.
Damn, whoever did these ratings must have been one huge Leafs homer
I remember a few years ago, almost every NYI prospect had insane potential and they always became a powerhouse. Most, if not all, of those prospects busted.
Sometimes EA is just EA...
But I do miss their NCAA Football games, man were those awesome.
I miss MVP Baseball.
Looking at the star categories, his defense was 1 star too high and his puck skills category could have been a half-star lower. He's an exceptional talent but, like most young players, he has kinks in his game. I would have expected that 87 he got not be for the 2015-2016 campaign but as a progression to the 2016-2017 season. The Rielly rating makes some sense.
He's a fantastic skater, and speed, acceleration, agility all weigh heavily into a players overall. Probably has a solid amount of points in the stats that push the overall up more.
Added my own personal rankings in bold. EA is too generous.

Legit loling at Rielly being an 87. Both Gardiner and Phaneuf are currently better.

More like that anyone expected to play at the NHL level is between 80-86. And then you have stars above it, and AHL below.
EA sports have no differentiation in their ratings. Which doesn't matter much when the difference in skill makes as little difference as they have lately.
