360/PS3 version has all the game modes but with minor tweaks to gameplay compared to 14.
XB1/PS4 version has totally different gameplay from 14 but very few game modes to choose from.

Here's a link for everything that is missing from the new gen versions

Is the gameplay in PS3/360 improved ? I've read it's almost the same as NHL14. I don't want to pay $70 for a mere roster update.

Can we please stop with the daily NHL15 threads? This game should be boycotted.

And if they make no money, then we have no hockey game.

They will be releasing updates to add the features. Two big ones announced for September and October.

People have to remember that sports games don't have the "luxury" of pushing release dates back like other teams can. Pretty much every next-gen game that has been announced since the PS4 has come out were pushed back. NHL had to deal with it differently. Not saying it was the best course of action, but I can understand the approach. Madden had the same approach when it was jumping to the 360/ps3.

Dude, they are the only ****ing compagny who makes hockey games. Are you living on the same planet as us?!

People are still gonna buy their ****** game because this is their only option, 2K has stopped making hockey games because they were not able to compete against EA. Still, EA has been terrible in the last few years and they had two ****ing years to make NHL 15. I don't give a damn about presentation and the oh so great commentators, this is freaking dumb. Man, everyone is going to skip the intro next week. We want game modes.

It is a marketing issue that the NHL should take seriously.

Here is what I wrote in another thread about the same topic:

The first thing that this franchise needs is a competitor, but this is out of our control.

I think the purpose of the game should be to increase the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the game. I am not a particularly big NBA fan, but i bought NBA 2k14 because it was so good. This is what the ultimate goal should be... To get the game so good that even non-hockey fans would pick it up and become fans of the sport.

The NHL and other leagues represented in the game should become more involved in its production and content , if only due to this reason : It is free publicity !!!!

I do not understand why, unlike NBA 2k14 and FIFA 14, games of the day/week. I know that last year we had the NBC game of the week, but this is not enough. This needs to be a feature to keep everybody up to date with the next important game/rivalry game.

The CHL would also benefit from this. If there is a big game coming, everybody must be aware of it. We also need to know how we can watch those games. Of course, this would require regular roster updates, and we are not getting any of that.

The opening menus should be like Madden 15 and include links towards the NHL's official website and hockey fantasy leagues. Real life latest results/news should be at the bottom of the screen "sportscentre style". Obviously , you could turn it off to avoid spoilers.

The NHL record book should also be available to see how you are doing in comparison to legendary players. We could also get the Hall of Fame involved with this.

To provide a better understanding of the game , you could have videos of some coach explaning various strategies and how you can use them in the video game.

The next part is more about the game itself that the NHL's role in it

It seems that pretty much every player has more or less the same overall rating. We need to find ways to distinguish them. We needs "specialists". Obviously, some guys would have more than one specialty.

For instance, some guys need the "PP", "PK", or shootout tags. Some physical d-men could be "walls". I thought of a dozen or so specialists ,but i did not feel like typing them all...

We need international tournaments such as the world juniors, world championship and the olympics, even under fake names.

They almost had 2 full years to put the game out. The decided to not release a XB1/Ps4 version last year to come out with a better product this year (paraphrasing what Sean Ramjagsingh said) and look at what they came up with. They concentrated on small things that should've been afterthoughts. Dynamic cloth? Different layers on players? New crowd models? New commentators? IMO they should've concentrated on putting out a game with complete game modes and kept all the fancy stuff for next year.

I cancelled my pre-order a couple days ago after the Early Access was released. I was able to put up with no EASHL this season, but now they stripped down offline too.

I won't be buying HUT 15 this year

Then stop advertising and talking about this game.

Sean Ramasamamamasingh has been stealing our money on behalf of EA Sports for too long now.

Not sure why this nonsense is needed to make your point, but I think you're underestimating the number of people that are upset out there. I have 3 friends that have already cancelled their pre-order, and many others are doing the same. NHL15 is EXACTLY the same on the PS3/360 (I'm playing it now), and I mean almost absolutely nothing has changed. Looks like they slapped Bergeron on the menu screen of NHL14 and moved on. So cancellations on all four consoles are coming.

Also, it's not easy for some Canadian based game developers/companies to turn a profit with some games. Tax credit laws are making things tough in some provinces, including BC, which is where EA studios is located. The tax incentives play a significant role in helping companies lower cost and in BC you can only claim somewhere around 17% vs say Ontario at 40%(!). And regardless if EA are the only ones making an NHL game, you bet your ass what they're all about is the money. ESPECIALLY EA. So if NHL15 is a bust, there might not be question on whether development should continue on 16, but cutbacks... most likely. Which would lead to, again, another **** game.

All I'm saying is a boycott will definitely not have the effect some think.

I had been planning on buying a ps4 in September since last year just for NHL15... not going to happen.

Looks like they did tweak the Be a GM engine for ps3, so I'll probably buy it for that and EASHL obviously.

What are you referring to when you say "tweak"? Maybe I can help you. I have a copy now and I can tell you, I see almost no difference between NHL14 and 15.

From the videos I've seen, prospect development has greatly improved. Aswell as scouting / drafting.

Not sure what else has been tweaked...

Also can anybody confirm for me, but if I'm not mistaken ps4/Xbox one has more than one ref on the ice during gameplay as opposed to nhl on ps3/xbox 360, there is still only the one.

To be fair, although they barely changed anything, the game plays much better with the tweaks they made. I've played about 20 games of EASHL and OTP lobbies, and I haven't really felt cheated so far by the "rammer factor".
