Yes because Two Way Defenders are ridiculously easy to get to 80+ and that's what Kronwall is classified as.

On the other hand, defensive defenseman are easy to get up if you are creating your own but are ridiculously underrated by EA. I always have to bump Ericsson up to where I believe he should be (81-84 range).

I forgot Eaves in my roster, he'll be a 76 or 77. Lot of ratings will stay similar because it's the second year under the new player evaluation system.

If you look next to his number though you can see a downwards pointing arrow and -5, which suggests that Z had 90 but due to whatever (injury? form?) lost 5 points in his overall. I don't think you need to worry about EA valuing Franzen higher than Zetterberg; they're not *that* incompetent.

Helm 84? Come on, I like the guy but he is not an 84 as a two way forward, hell he might not even be an 84 as a grinder.

Surprised Franzen is rated as 87, figured his ceiling would be an 85.

Zetterberg is dropped because of being on a cold streak, it's part of the new dynamic rating system. It's the same reason that Pasha is up to 98 (from 95). Z's ranking looks to be 90, which is fair.

Not bad overall, not very far off what I expected sans Franzen and Helm.

It's part of the new "hot or cold streak" system. Zetterberg is -5 and Datsyuk is +3 in that picture. Which means that Zetterberg normally is 90 and he was 89 in NHL 13. Datsyuk is still 95 it seems according to that picture.

I can't wait until I'm in a season with a different team and I see the Wings fire sale happen (trading away Datsyuk, Alfie because they are 35+) and still somehow make the playoffs.

My last Be a GM had the Rangers acquire Datsyuk and Hossa in the same season

Rangers acquired Saku Koivu and Teemu Selänne in my Be a GM. The AI do some odd trades.
