Prior to the revision, NFL teams were very limited to the marketing and sponsorship opportunities they could enter into in the wine and spirits spaces. Teams were only allowed to produce commemorative wine bottles for celebratory moments, like notable team anniversaries, Super Bowls or plays of special significance. What constituted a “celebratory moment” was tightly defined, meaning teams couldn’t merely call something a “celebration” to justify producing a team bottle of wine for retail. Under the new policy, teams do not need a reason to produce and sell wine. They can even place their logos on wine bottles they sell.
And liquor companies can advertise not only in liquor stores, but grocery stores with NFL logos.
Big changes. Wonder how much that will increase bottom line.
