a) Some of the players on the roster are very good, but none good enough to be the guy on a cup team. They are likely good enough to keep the wings out of the cellar and away from the best odds at top picks.
b) The prospect pool is average or just above. Good prospects at the top end, but nobody with a realistic shot to become the superstar that they need. And because of a), above, I don’t see where those prospects are going to come from.
c) You can’t build a championship team through UFA. You can build a bubble team.
I don’t think they’re going to be down. I think they’re going to be kind of okay indefinitely unless they manage to get a surprise win in the draft lottery. That all sounds very Minnesota to me .
