not going to put a poll in here as the rumours here in the UK change on a daily basis. Latest report is that they want a new actor in place by late march for a possible late August filming. Depending on the source they may or may not have a script already in place

Two weeks ago, it was Henry Cavill and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as favorites. Johnson may have stumbled when he suggested his wife direct the movie--She did film a Bond short with Craig is an international woman's day a few years ago.

Now there are reports Lucien Laviscount has also done an audition now

One thing the producers said is that they want a younger actor to show Bond less refined and still learning just what he is suppose to do

When Connery was cast he was 32, George Lazenby 32, Moore was 45, Dalton 41, Brosnan 42, and Craig was 38.

Taylor-johnson is 32
Cavil is is 39
Lucien Laviscount 30
Richard Madden is 36 (he did a show call The Bodyguard and did an audition about a year ago

I'd be pretty happy with Henry Cavill. No idea who Lucien Laviscount is but Cavill would definitely bring some strong continued interest in the movies.

I'm completely the other way, He's may be the only guy I am rooting against. I think he has sub-zero charisma.

True, but don't most of the James Bonds play a mellow-type role? Could fit him pretty well haha.

It's about an even split. But which side would you really prefer? Lazenby, Moore, Brosnan or Connery, Dalton, Craig?

My pick is Rene Jean-Page. I think they will go for a black Bond to appeal to Gen Z. Kendrick does the Bond song etc.

If they stay white my pick is Theo James. He is on the rise after White Lotus S2 and Time Traveller's Wife and I think is in the right hot but a little bit wooden talent range to lock himself down with Bond. He's perfect if they go back to Bond being a f*** machine.

Neither are the same age as guys like Holland or Chalamet but a true "young James Bond" just doesn't work, try looking up British actors under 30 and see if any of them look like enough of a man to play the role. The only one in his mid 20s that would seem ok if Paul Mescal but after getting raves in Aftersun I think he's going for a multiple Oscar nominee type career not Bond.

Given what the directors have said about the Bond character and using the analysis Vesper did on Craig’s Bond in Casino Royale the Bond character went to Oxford, enlisted in the UK military and went through the MI6 training. Think Vesper mentioned British SAS in her analysis of Bond. This all of this education, service and training would put Bond into his early 30’s at a minimum. Thus the casting director wants someone who looks like they are in around that age range. Bond isn’t going to be a 27 year old.

Personally I hope they just don’t with someone pushing 40. Given that the actor would be signed for 3-4 films. Would need to commit close to a decade for the Bond series.

Eh, whoever they pick is going to stay in top conditional throughout the movies. For example if they did choose 39 year old Cavill, the guy will probably still look incredible in his late 40s.

Here in England you can join the military at 16--so get could do 4 years in the navy(20), 4 years at oxford(24) and at the same time do SAS training--with four more years after you grad which takes him to 28 --having 4 years in navy, 4 years uni and 4 years of SAS training after he grads--also--he is in the navy at 16 he would be taking training that would count towards the practical side of his degree he would get from oxford.

After watching Slow Horses my new pick is Jack Lowden. I think he'd be a good fit for "young" James Bond (he'd still in his mid 30s by the time they make this, but has a younger vibe than mid 2000s Craig)

I don't think Richard Madden is good looking enough to play Bond, and it would piss me off watching all the female characters throwing themselves at him as if he is

And, yeah, a big part of Bond's appeal is how suave he is, but still... unless it's written in the novels that Bond has a weird nose, then Madden shouldn't get anywhere near the role

I'm not surprised they are taking so long, espeically if the next actor playing Bond is supposed to be younger and wear the mantle for several movies (decade?). The franchise's future/profitibility rests largely with who they ultimatly select.

Out of the rumored candidates, my choice would be Aaron Taylor Johnson. He's young enough and can pull off the rugged suave look. I recently saw him in Bullet Train and he was great in it.

The Rock would be perfect, and an unexpected choice that checks off many boxes.

Awful choice.

Just awful.

I assume you were not being serious.

Rumour is he takes PEDs as well....
